• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Are Theistic Evolutionists generally liberal?

Oh, this was about theology. Goes to show what happens when you don't read the the thread. I am orthodox in my theology, though I do enjoy considering things from other points of view. I have a special interest in the Gnostics and their theology. Very interesting, despite it being heretical.

I'm a moderate -- fairly well persuaded by Karl Barth, theologically.

I think you'll find the TEs on this forum are fairly orthodox with a few exceptions (though, things may have changed since I was here last). In the Church as a whole? I don't think there's a strong correlation one way or the other. Certainly, all creationists I've ever met considered themselves conservative.

I would like to point out again the following:

It doesn't matter if a TE is liberal, moderate, or conservative. If anything were to truly matter is whether the TE was orthodox or not, which is not dependent of either of those terms. I have seen very orthodox liberals and very unorthodox conservatives (and the opposite is also true; the idea that most liberals are unorthodox and most conservatives are orthodox is very misleading and, from personal experience, is not true).

I'm not as common here as most of the true experts in science TEs are, but having I'd say read enough of their posts, I would be willing to bet that all of them, liberal, moderate, and conservative, are definitely orthodox.

Ummm...

Politically, I am libertarian (liberal on things such as drugs (though think most are indeed harmful and addictive), prostitution (I think prostitution is terrible, but if one wishes to sell their body then that is their choice), and even marriage (IMO the states should have no control in giving married couples benefits and a marriage certificate)).

Theologically, I am orthodox. You can put me down in the Five solas camp.
