I was surfing another website and came across this very interesting question:

The Hebrew Bible keeps saying over and over that Children are not to suffer for their parents sins [Dt.24:16, 2Ki 14:6, 2Ch 25:4, Ez 18:20]. If this is true - why did death pass to all of Adam's children by the sin of Adam?? [Ro 5:12, 19, 1Co 15:22] anyone want to give a comment?

All living things produce their own likeness.
Adam produced children in his likeness. unfortunately when he produced children it was in his fallen nature. We inherit his dead spirit because we are made in his likeness. Thank God for regenerated Spirits!

Amen, Gen 5, the acorn doesn't fall far from the tree, and every little acorn, is just a little tree.

In John 3:6 Jesus said, "That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit."

So, when we are born, we are spiritually disconnected from God. We are born flesh; not yet alive spiritually. It isn't a matter of Adam's death being counted against us.

Genesis 3:22-24 Then the LORD God said, "Behold, the man has become like one of us in knowing good and evil. Now, lest he reach out his hand and take also of the tree of life and eat, and live forever—" therefore the LORD God sent him out from the garden of Eden to work the ground from which he was taken. He drove out the man, and at the east of the garden of Eden he placed the cherubim and a flaming sword that turned every way to guard the way to the tree of life.

You're confusing punishment with consequences.

You're confusing punishment with consequences.
Children often suffer consequences of the parents' sins.

A drunkard's child suffers due to his father's drinking, but is not punished for it.

I child of a murderer may suffer harsh consequences due to his father's actions, but will not be imprisoned for his father's crimes.
