ugh....radio broadcasts of that make my ears bleed! (and so does the voice of the broadcaster I have to deal with! lol)

yeah, radio broadcasts of high school basketball. we did the Indiana-Kentucky All Star games this past weekend. Our area had one guy in the boys game....and the second day he got injured practically as soon as he got on the court and never came back into the game. what a waste of airtime! lol
but yeah...our main sports guy is about the most ARROGANT person you'll ever meet. I don't know if you've ever listened to Bob and Tom but they've done a bit that I've heard a couple of times about the annoying guy on the cell phone....I swear this is modeled after the sportsguy from our station. Just really loud, obnoxious, never listens to anyone but himself. And if that isn't all.....the newest station owners were in town yesterday and he was like puddy in their hands. What an evil, soulless individual!!! ugh!!!

it's totally fine.it seems to be something about the midwest usa.. and in particular.. indiana style radio sports commentators.. that gives them this 'voice'.. and also that ego. indiana basketball is held in such HIGH regard as you know. when i was growing up, the high school gym in my town of 15,000 had 6,000 seats! Don't believe me.. 8 of the 10 biggest HS gyms are in Indiana: Largest High School Gyms - Wikipedia.
i'm sure this guy you speak of has been given awards.. knows everyone in town.. think's he's the bomb.. and works about 4 hours a day!
i shall stop here.. because this thread is ACTUALLY 'bout how awesome you are!!!! i think you're cool.. and you're not on my ignore list!

Yeah...you've described him quite well. I believe you about the high school gyms. The local newspaper here will gladly put sports accolades on the front page but if by some miracle the brain-dead kids in our area were to get off academic probation, it would likely be on the second or third page of the paper. When I went to school, it was rumoured that a couple of kids in my class or the one before mine who were basketball STARS could barely read but the teachers passed them so they could play. Our school was the one that won the state in 1986-88 three years in a row before 'class basketball'. Their last championship was the year I graduated. The first couple of years were fun but by the 3rd year I could care less. lol Now I cringe whenever i heard the word 'basketball.' lol I hate the NBA too! When I went to school, you were either a basketball star or your daddy was a lawyer, businessman or doctor or you were basically nothing and thrown into remedial classes. Well...I consider my intelligence level to be slightly above average but my dad is a maintenance man so needless to say, I was discounted by the school 'counselours' everytime I wanted some advice. I wasn't 'rich' enough to go to college so why bother. I think to this day, some of my career mishaps and frustrations are because of the way that school treated me and other kids in my situation. I'm thankful I didn't have kids because i would NOT send them to that school system. I wouldn't want my CATS going to that school system! It's horrible!

I don't know where the Reds are at right now. I want to get back into it, but I'm just learning what channels are what on the TV here in Harrisburg, PA let alone the standings of home team. My buddy told me they were doing decent.yeah...Cubs are a sore subject right now. lol next to last in runs scored! gotta love that!!! NOT!!!
Since the Pirates are another one of our rivals, I promise you, one of these days, I will go to Pittsburg to watch the Reds vs. Pirates and you will see my face on the TV!

Yeah, I think the Reds are doing alright....better than the Cubs are anyway! lol *right now I think I could hit better than the Cubs just out of sheer frustration!* lol
Well, when Reds play Pirates, I'll root for the Reds too because I pretty much have no use for anything out of Pittsburgh! lol (esp. the PENGUINS AND SID CROSBY! UGH!!!!)
