These cop clowns were transpassing on private property! Christians will never stop meeting - adversary doesn't stop them. Don't these people know that there are organizations like the ADF that will take them to court?

I have been trying to verify this story as reported. Anybody else have any luck?

Ever wonder how the largest religious group in the country seems to always be the target of religious persecution? Then again it is always them telling us how victimized they are, this story is a great example.

I would love to get another, non-biased source for this, maybe the city itself. San Diego tends to be a bastion of right wingers from what I understand and I know they fought the medical marijuana law tooth and nail.

Were the story correct as reported, I would agree that there seems to be a problem with the First Amendment being abridged, but my guess is we are missing some facts. Since the permit deals with parking, perhaps the participants are parking illegally or are blocking the parking of fellow residents. As I said, we seem to be missing data.

I'm betting this is a matter of how many people are showing up - complaints about parking etc... by neighbors. If there are local laws regarding the numbers of people one can gather for religious purposes in the home and this couple has violated that then their complaint should be with the laws they didn't pay attention to and working to change them rather than claiming persecution.

Seems like a poorly written law and someone in the government being a bit too overzealous about enforcing it then. My bet is that there will be a public backlash and the overzealous official will back off and say it was all a big misunderstanding.

Until there's more detail on this story I can't really decide if I think the bible study group is correct in their complaint.

Groups meeting in residential locations can be a real pain in the tush.

Assuming the story is true, I'm sure the issue is parking/traffic management, and not the fact that it's a religious gathering. My municipality requires a permit for someone holding a one-time estate or garage sale. So the police can block off no parking zones to allow for traffic/emergency vehicle flow as necessary. Anyone should be able to understand why this becomes an issue with a regularly scheduled group event in a residential area.
