CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

And the only people who don't believe in evolution usually have no true grasp or concept of what evolution really is, or the mechanics involved. Its not a big deal to the rest of the world that theres a small minority of people who refuse to believe a thing called truth. I mean, its really their loss if they want to be lost in the darkness of ignorance forever. Theyre just doing their part to keep society from progressing.

Liberalism and Conservatism go in cycles in religion. As religion in a region begins to liberalize, religion become less of a factor in life, and conservative groups that were once small spring up and gain power and resist. Then, over time, liberals renounce the doctrines of the conservatives, increase in number, and start the cycle once more...

Actually, I think it is important to slow our progression, up to a point. There are people pushing for progress and change, and there are people digging in their heels and pulling us back. The change people generate new ideas, come up with new inventions, and instigate social reforms; the slower people make us question the ideas, evaluate the inventions, and stop the social reforms from going too far (hopefully). We have to balance each other out. The world moves towards change as inescapably as a bike rolls down a hill, but we need brakes too sometimes so we don't get ahead of ourselves.

That's a bit of an overkill.
I don't believe in evolution in terms of how life started, but I don't see how that belief is keeping society from progressing.
