  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

He is a Word of Faith (WOF) teacher which is one group of Christians I disagree with doctrinally. There are some good things that comes out of WOF but in terms of balancing of pros and cons. WOF's cons list is much longer and contradict in many of our Christian basic doctrines. Many Christians like me are believe that Word of Faith teaches contrary to the teachings of the Bible. My concept of Word of Faith is that they focuses on works in terms of “faith” towards health, wealth and prosperity. I don’t view these as the essentials of Christian life and practice.

Greetings,

Who told you he was a false prophet? This is something that I have had to learn over the years. When someone teaches you the bible you should listen intently and with an open mind, however, once you are done you are to take what was taught and line it up to the bible. Acts 17:11 "Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures to see if what Paul said was true." In other words, if you happen to find a teacher that catches your attention, listen to them and then go home and search the bible to see if what they are teaching is correct. If you find error in their teaching, then you do what you seem to be best for you. There are things that I disagree with my pastor on, yet I still sit under His teaching because I love Him but I do go home and study the scriptures on my own. In other words, do not throw the whole book out because you cannot agree with some of their doctrines, unless proven heretical. (False)

Regards,

SAM

I'd say don't read anything that comes from the Word of Faith movement... it just hurts your relationship with Christ.

I like what someone said: "It may be that you'll be crucified in the providence of God, but it will benefit you spiritually and eternally." So there goes the prosperity gospel and theology :D

Get another book, from a Reformed point of view, that deals with the same subject of having intimate relationship with the Lord.

I recenty discover that hes a false prophet and I got a hold of his book "Life overflowing" what are your thoughts on him
I don't know if he is a false prophet or not but you need to say why you believe he is. Being a false prophet was a death penalty offense in the OT. It's too serious of a charge to make without evidence and we can't judge his words without knowing what they are.

I'd say faith and walking in love are very important to the Christian's walk. Faith has gotten a bad rap but really faith is what pleases God. I've been learning about that a lot recently.
There are things that build or stimulate your faith and if we know and believe in them we should do them.
It doesn't really matter who the preacher is in question.
Look a their life if you can.

I would not say he is a false Prophet, He is just normal Creation. Most likely his eyes are
on money. When we take our eyes off Jesus we have to look somewhere. When these mega pastors become successful in the sight of the World. It is not hard for them
to believe that they are something mighty special and the gold they receive is a gift
from god and to receive more gold they put on a show. As for me, I could never receive money in exchange for the Word of God. I do not put much heed in Creation.

I do not know who is a "false prophet" or not. I would be wary of judging anyone.

However, I generally think any books for religious purposes outside of the Bible or the older saints tend to be pretty flimsy stuff.

Read Teresa of Avila if you must, or the Philokalia. But, the Bible and whatever references are all you need. Otherwise, enjoy life, like what Solomon said.

Any kind of interpretation or book like that can lead you astray... God is not "out there", but in your heart.

And in front of your face.
