What about pansexuality?

I have never seen a discussion on pansexuality. For those of you unfamiliar with the term, according to Wikipedia a pansexual is:

Pansexuality, or omnisexuality[1] is a sexual orientation characterized by the potential for aesthetic attraction, romantic love, or sexual desire for people, regardless of their gender identity or biological sex. Some pansexuals suggest that they are gender-blind; that gender and sex are insignificant or irrelevant in determining whether they will be sexually attracted to others.

So really, it's person who is attracted to a person no matter their gender. It's not that same as being a bisexual. Someone who is pansexual can also be attracted to transgender people.

Since there's too much focus on homosexuality, I would like to expand the discussion a bit further.

Does one think pansexuality is unnatural and wrong? If so, why?

I see no difference between this and bisexual. I think it's another term that was made up so people can slap the lable on themselves and feel claim to be "different". But thats just my opinion. It's really big among the high school crowd to claim to be pansexual....oh those kids.

I think most bisexuals would accurately fit the definition of pansexual. But because the term bisexual is more commonly known, the binary concept of gender, and negative connotations that some have with pansexual the term bisexual is used.

I realize it may not be the most accurate method, but I would mostly label sexuality categories as heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual, or asexual.

Except that 'bisexual' only refers to being attracted to either of two sexes. When you are attracted to not just the two sexes, but everything in between, that's when the word 'pansexual' is appropriate.

The problem is that we commonly use a binary system for sexes. It may not be accurate, but I don't think there are more than two recognized sexes to create exclusionary categories for bisexuals.

I guess I don't see a real difference between being bisexual or pansexual - the term "bi" would seem to suggest there are only two sexes, but even if you can argue that from a biological basis (and it would still be difficult), gender is a lot more fluid. If you take ten biological females, each will express gender differently, some will define themselves as more femme, others more masculine, so for me it seems like the same thing. But whatever. Love between consenting individuals isn't wrong.

As far as pansexuality goes - today I'm not terribly concerned with whatever labels consenting adults want to use for themselves. Bisexual, pansexual, asexual, whatever - it's all groovy. Variety is the spice of life...

I think most people who are generally anti-anything-that-isn't hetero-normative struggle to fully understand homosexuality. When bisexuality is ever mentioned it seems to be in a context of, "oh, you must sleep with everyone." I suspect that a discussion about pansexuality would probably blow their minds...

I don't, no. We're all individuals, and I'm increasingly convinced that whatever our sexual orientation, that's how God made us. So how could it be unnatural or wrong? Live and let live, that's my motto.
