• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

That Taverna was nearing the bottom of the page! Is Outrage! :kyaa:

Ah well :)

I shall be incommunicado until after Pascha as I fill the parish house with the noxious fumes of Brasso and lighter fluid (brass polishing, how fun!).

I pray you all have a blessed Holy Friday, Holy Saturday and an especially blessed Pascha.

If I can not or will not post on Pascha (I probably won't) than all I have to say is the following as shamelessly stolen from the OCA's website:

Christ is Risen!
Khristos voskrese!
Le Christ est réssuscité!
Christos anesti!
Hristos a inviat!
Cristo ha resucitado!
Christus ist erstanden!
Kristus nousi kuolleista!
El Messieh kahm!
Harisutos Fukkatsu!
Christus resurrexit!
Cristos vaskres!
Christus resurrexit!

Indeed he is risen! (almost...)

why do you need lighter fluid to polish brass?

Posssibly because it helps to cut through the layers of grime etc.

Aother thing that works for small objects is Ceramic Hob Cleaner - it's a very mild acid and if you can immerse the object in it and leave it to 'soak' for a few minutes you will be pleasnantly surprised at the result :)

I was trying to clean a letterbox front that had been neglected for years [ about 20 :D ] and tried this - the Hob Cleaner was spread on and I left it alone for about
15 mins and then gently rubbed it off . I could then see the brass was almost clean - washed it , dried it with a papertowel and then used the dreaded brasso. Didn't need much rubbing , and it then shone :D :D

Dogfish Head 90 Minute IIPA!!! Thanks for turning me on this fabulous brewski Michael!

You are welcome! I love the stuff. The 120 Minute IPA is a very different tasting IPA than the 90 minute. You would think that a beer that is btwn 18-21% alcohol and has 120 IBUs would be very potent in taste, and yet it is not as strong tasting as the 90 Minute due to a more balanced flavor.

WOW...I have not run across the 120 yet, but I bet I know where I can find it locally. :p
