which is why, as miracles go, I trend towards agnosticism. not that I do not believe in miracles, I certainly do. I've been party to a few myself. But, there are so many Corn Tortilla Marys and red food colouring crying statues, that it's best in my mind, to not assume it as valid just because someone else says it is.This is indeed quite true, and our church has the same experience as well.
Many of our monastics, priests, and church fathers speak of not seeking visions or miracles, because they can be deceptions. Plus the need to 'test' everything with a sober spirit, and to not fall into prelest (ie. delusion).
someone can preach at true Christian message from the pulpit, and still use hocus pocus shows to make it look more inspired.Sun, what kind of stuff is being preached at this place? if it is good christian doctrine, then it might be a miricle or it might be fake
but if you think what is being preached is not Christian, well then I would be a lot more sceptical
mmmm.... I don't think I can share that reasoning with you.the stigmata is a reminder of what Jesus had to go through, it makes the World remember what it did to Him
Jesus only gives us good things, when a Catholic gets the stigmata there is a lot of time accusations that it is fake, but if a Protestant were to recive the gift of stigmata, well it is a good bet that most people in the Protestantism would not think it is real, so that kind of defeats the point, it is to remind Christians what Jesus went through, if such a sign would not do that, God will not give it to people thn
Well this is the key here, could still be a sign from god

that is true, but if it is a false gospel being preached, then it is 100% not a miracle from Godsomeone can preach at true Christian message from the pulpit, and still use hocus pocus shows to make it look more inspired.
as far as magic tricks go, it does not take Houdini to make feathers and dust appear.Angel feathers and gold dust huh? Well, I find it hard to believe since I didn't experience it for myself and have seen quite a few illusionists do similar things in my time.
Color me a skeptic when it comes to purported miracles. The only one I truly believe was the 1980 USA hockey team![]()

agreed.that is true, but if it is a false gospel being preached, then it is 100% not a miracle from God
works for me.if it is Christianity being preached, then it might be a miracle or it might not be, that was all I ment to say
Wow! Good testimony and insight.sorry to be so late in replying....
i can provide proof that not all miracles are directly from God. I work as a nurse on an psychiatric ward. On my ward is patient who is really into angels (but does not have any christian belief at all - its all pagan), but she says she regularly thanks her angels and often finds white feathers on the floor.
This can only lead to one conclusion... faith in Jesus Christ is not the determining factor for appearance of the miraculous.

Gold Dust and Angel's Feathers?
Well, on a positive note, its probably a good thing they're not reporting the spontaneous appearance of angel-dust!

I don't know if any of you watched this masked magician hosting a series of TV shows called something like, "Magic's Greatest Secrets Revealed"? After doing so I felt my skeptical side getting strenghtened. I mean, my senses are as susceptible to manipulation as the next guy's.
On a related note, I started reasoning that if my vision is prone to mistaking fiction for reality, what about a more subjective realm, like my feelings? Feelings of "I don't feel loved by God today", could be that ancient magician's trick who first said, "Did God say...?" Right?
but can they turn burnt food into something edible?I'm married to a magician; nothing like it to help you realise that you shouldn't always believe what you see, or think you see!
Well, they would already have the smoke, they'd just need some mirrors.but can they turn burnt food into something edible?
