  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

How can RCs and Protestants reconcile

And the difference is that a Christian can explain what the Gospel is. Catholics can't. ....

First of all, I AM a Christian sir, and I don't care for the implication that I'm not.

Second of all, Catholic priests attend 6 to 8 years of Seminary and receive the equivalent of a doctorate in education. The idea that they can't explain the Gospel is beyond ridiculous.

For the record, as a Catholic, I can tell everyone: The Gospel is the Good News that God became a man so that we could become adopted sons of God. I doubt you will find a better, more succinct explanation of the Gospel than that.

Liberalism & even apathy are sweeping thru the churches & causing major damage anymore. I still think we're in the time of Apostacy where many are prophecied to leave the faith.

This is very true, but such are the times for those that draw nigh unto GOD also.

They say they're practicing Catholics and the other Catholics here seem to think that they're legit.

Prove me wrong. Find me a Catholic who can articulate the Gospel.
On this site? good luck finding........
nevermind.

That's just the problem, anyone grabs a Christian icon here, but when
you read their heresies, false teachings & promotion of immoralities -
they just prove nasty fruit.

ALOT of great people have left CF, and with it, went some good
Catholic warriors that used to be here.
I dont' know what's left anymore, but I don't see ALOT of "practicing"
Protestants at CF either!

:swoon: it's discouraging quite honestly

If you are trying to make a point here, use the proper scripture to assert it instead of trying to gleen personal points from wrong subjects in scripture.

Well, you see, it's the same problem with the RCC. They and YOU insist that we must run the scriptures through your imposed requirements.

I can read 1 John, see that LOVE IS FROM GOD AND GOD IS LOVE and also see then that EVERYONE who loves KNOWS GOD and is BORN OF GOD and accept it just fine thank you.

Now, you or the RCC or anyone else are perfectly entitled to see it some other way and that will just have to work for you, but it is not a requirement for 'me.' Get it? Nor does it mean you are 'more right' or 'they' are more right.

Loving our neighbors as ourselves is what is right (in case you missed it.)

It is not hard to do. Posting incorrect scripture with wrongful commentary does tend to be noticed by those of us who labor in the scriptures.

IF you 'labored' in the scriptures your entire lifetime and came away with justifications to condemn your fellow man, I'd daresay it was a most worthless undertaking.

And yes, your approach appears here to be simply humanistic.

And your approach is to make a patently false equation.

NEXT!

We of ourselves can do nothing, Jesus was specific about that. It is not my love that does anything but GOD's love through me.

Well then, let's see if He shows up?

enjoy!
