  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I think that the trouble is that RTD is great with the inter-personal stuff, which in that episode is great, but he tends to fall down on the actual plots a lot of the time. I thought they explained the other Doctor far too early and everything after that was kinda disappointing somehow, a lot of good ideas that didn't quite work. Which was sad, really, because it could have been great. At least the ending was good.

I agree with most of that. I wished that they hadn't revealed who the second "Doctor" was till closer to the end, too. One of the problems I see with the frequent repeat villains is that they seem to feel that they have to 1-up themselves all the time. (Except that it seems that they actually 5-upping (or 10-upping) themselves.) Everything is escalating so quickly there will soon be no story-lines that can accommodate all the new revelations about the villain, whether it be a dalek or a cyberman. One of the things that I think they forget is that they can actually travel in time, and that doesn't just include jumping from our past to our present and/or our future, but he can do it with the daleks past, present or future, too (like when he went back to the genesis of the daleks). Get them before they develop all that advanced technology.

Yes but as the 4th Doctor said in Genesis "Do I have the right?" somethings could be better with the Daleks/cybermen...did they explain about the cybershades were they cyber dogs..sort of new versions of the cybermats? I agree they revealed the details of the new "Doctor" too soon otherwise it was a decent enough who romp.

LOL. :D One wonders how much down time there is in the TARDIS between all that rushing around, saving the universe.

I kind of miss those episodes that seem to take place completely within the TARDIS.

I had a friend who wrote fan fiction especially Dr Who. He wrote a story about the Doctor finding a cricket pitch inside the TARDIS and playing a game with his other selves even one where the TARDIS got flooded.

I wrote a fan fiction story about the Doctor and a basilisk (long before Harry Potter II came out!).

I think his age is irrelevant, it is how he plays the part of The Doctor as Lastie has mentioned.
I've seen him in The Sally Lockhart series and thought he was a good actor.

Roll on 2010 :)

(Hope he keeps that gothic look)

I think this image of Mr. Smith would be quite nice:

I am not thrilled with how young he is either, but I will watch and see what I think of his acting as The Doctor. Honestly, I am just happy the there is a new Doctor. I like David Tennant, but I am ready for a change. My favorite Doctor has always been Christopher Eccleston.
