When the Rev. Joseph Breen first arrived at St. Edward Catholic Church in 1984, he found a thriving parish. There were 750 families, 300 children in the parochial school, and two assistant priests on the staff to keep things running smoothly.

"Now we have over 1,200 families, 480 children in the school, and one old priest, 73 years old," Breen said, referring to himself.

Some married priests are already incardinated, over 100 former Episcopal priests, to be more precise.
Thirty-nine popes were married.
Many priests are now serving several churches at once, all by themselves!
If the Catholic Church doesn't change their policies pretty soon, there won't be anyone left to run them.
Something must be done soon!

The Bible doesn't forbid it... it is a <staff edit> Catholic rule.

Actually, <staff edit> the Catholic hierarchy would agree with you. It's a Law of the Church, subject to change by the Pope at any time in his own good judgment.

As people have noted, even the Latin Rite Catholics have a few married priests, converts from Episcopalianism. The Orthodox Churches, all the Eastern Rite churches in the Catholic Church, the Old Catholics and Polish National Catholics, the Episcopalians and other Anglicans, all have married priests.

The original intent was to prevent simony, when priestly office was a valuable commodity. Today, it's largely because they believe it difficult to balance needs of parish and family without neglecting one or the other.

This is not to challenge the truth of what you're saying, just an honest question... where can I find the actual evidence which proves your statement which I placed in bold? I know someone who is researching this.

I honestly don't know, Falling Waters. I'm paraphrasing what I learned some years back when this was brought up on another forum. You might ask in OBOB, giving your reason for asking so they won't suspect you of trolling (which they get a lot of).
