• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Are you a fundie?

Yep (the former, not the fine print)!

Well, I wouldn't say all. There are some I have on ignore, but I like most of the regulars here, and to name just a few special favorites:

you
Nadiine
Desmalia
NorrinRadd
AnneSally (who's been gone for a while - I miss her )

Also, I'm becoming fond of Cubanito, and I get a lot of good information from Deacon Dean, who's not at all warm and fuzzy but he knows a lot.

Anyone else I didn't mention, well, put it down to my not having had my coffee yet. Unless I've got you on ignore, and even that doesn't mean I hate you, it just means I don't think it'd be productive for me to interact with you.

It was long, long ago and far, far away. More recently I did [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse]o-Ryu. Now I've moved on to JKD. But 7th Dan, that's impressive!

I am fond of them all and many I haven't seen in a while. BTW has anyone heard from HowardDean?

I do believe the whole Bible is infallible and I have reasonable standards that I go by, therefore I feel I am a fundamentalist. However, a few of the hardcore fundies may disagree, as I am politically moderate (as many can see by my "Indy" symbol), wear pants most of the time, own a television, listen to a variety of music, and I read both KJV and NKJV.

Politics has no direct bearing on being a fundy. It is true that these days in most Western societies fundys align w the "conservative" wing of politics, but there are plenty who do not. I might disagree on your politics, but that does NOT give me reason to question your allegiance to Biblical inerrancy, perspecuity or perspecacity.

What pants, TV, music preferences or the selection of a translation has to do w it I can't tell.

I wear pants a lot of the time too, OK?

Only one thing you wrote makes me wonder if u r really a fundy: "I feel I am a fundy..."

NO, you are not a fundy based on what you "feel", but on what you think. Now, one may question if the actions r consistently opposed to what someone says they think/believe, but feelings have little to do w this.

She does that (disappear). Those of us who know her from other venues have decided she's some sort of secret agent who only posts during breaks between MI-5 assignments.

By the word "feel", it means opinion. I believe in the WHOLE Word of God for what it is, therefore, I deserve to be a welcome part of this thread. If you don't want to think of me as a "fundy", that's your opinion, but let's agree to disagree.

Here's what I'm trying to say (hope this helps)....

I mentioned all those frivolous issues like TV, Bible translations, music, politics, dresses vs. pants on women, etc. because there used to be a lot of people in the fundamentalist forums that tended to be very strict on those things. And they are to be commended and respected for having those convictions. But many people stereotype all fundamentalists as having those convictions when that is only true of some fundamentalists. Fundamentalists alone vary in denomination and backgrounds, range from reasonable to "legalistic", and have different convictions and opinions. Nevertheless, we as Christians should be able to agree on one thing, and that's having Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior.

And hey, if we all thought the same, wouldn't this be a mighty dull world?

From what I understand (ask Cubanito or No Swansong or one of the other long timers) this is precisely the reason a definition was adopted. If you haven't read it, it is in the FSG's. It doesn't say anything about wearing pants, dancing etc. It basically speaks of basic (fundamental) doctrine.

I know that. I was merely pointing out that there are a few who actually think so. And some fundamentalists are indeed stricter than other fundamentalists. That's what I meant when I said "ranging from reasonable to legalistic".

As for me, I believe in the pure, infallible Word of God for what it is, with nothing added to or taken away. So, therefore, I am a "fundie"! :)

Belief in the ultimate authority of G-d words, it's inerrancy, belief in the Trinity, the virgin birth, and the death burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. That is the major points of Fundamentalism.
