  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Think I'll sit down here for a bit... (8)

OK, I've had raw onion pieces and some curried chicken. I can breath a little better and my mouth is now more tender than my throat, but I don't feel any better overall. Perhaps some chocolate ice cream will help. ;)

Mucous drainage is one of the biggest reason for sore throats. Lemon will help cut the mucous.

For an intense cure for sinus infection start to cut up an onion and inhale the fumes. Don't stop till you're finished with the whole onion. Onions are one of the most natural antiseptic agents in nature. Even the fumes will cure sinus infections. It's best if you can chew on the onion and swallow just the juice but most people can't do that.

A couple of years ago a Naturopath (sp?) prescribed the following treatment for a friend of mine who had a severe sinus infection that antibiotics would not cure; it had went on for over two months:

12 oz glass of water as hot as you can drink in one draft. Mix one tablespoon (not the little teaspoon, a tablespoon) of ground black pepper in it and toss it back.

My friend told me that within minutes his sinus' started draining, and continued to do so until they were completely clear. They remain clear to this day.

He did say that he also had a severe need for an ointment the following day such as preparation H.

This is a true story.

I have not had the nerve to try it myself.

I'd be dead. Black pepper is no longer my friend. Much to my everlasting disappointment.

I've noticed that any oil like the chicken fat will dampen the "hot" in the pepper and bring out the real flavor. That's why hot wing sauces are so popular since they usually use butter to take the "ouch" out.

No butter on my wings. It's Frank's Red Hot right out of the bottle. :yum:

That's pretty much Applebee's recipe. EXCEPT they do use the butter. Mike is in hog heaven with their half price appetizers and will order 2 orders for his dinner.

But I've learned the secret and will make them for him at home but I cut the butter in half and up the frank's by 2. He loves it.

He also has a bottle of Pure Cap. You have to sign a waver absolving the seller of any legal stuff AND it comes in its own prescription bottle. Just the tip of a toothpick stuck into this stuff and into a pot of chili makes the chili too hot for me to eat...and I can eat atomic wings without resorting to milk to calm my mouth down. *G*

THE best non-Rx cure for sinuses is one teaspoon of salt plus one teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda in one cup of warm tap water. Once dissolved, snort the mixture up each nostril. It is very messy, but the hypertonic high pH solution is very toxic to all pathogenic bacteria (except Vibrio, but Vibrio doesn't grow in noses). Your bodies tissues find the solution an irritant, but not toxic.

However, the best thing, IMO, is to bring $500 to an internist's office and then venerate the ground he walks on.

Better yet, mail me the money.

No snorting and no Neti Pots for me, not since I got my Sinus Rinse.

http://www.neilmed.com/usa/sinusrinse.php

It's a huge help, especially when I'm cleaning grain in the winter, I'm always stuffed up unless I rinse my sinuses out when I get home.

Without it, first my sinuses close.

Then I can't sleep. Suffocation does not promote restful sleep.

Then I get run down.

Then I get a cold.

Then it sets up as bronchitis.

Then I get pneumonia.

You wouldn't think it would make that much difference, but it does.

The isotonic for normal situation, the hypertonic for when a cold is coming on.

Hi all- testing my new avatar. Works been nuts- I haven't been around here for awhile! Hope everyone is doing well! I am tired- just finished our 5th batch of salsa. I think I made around 64 pints. Wish I could make 20 more but the tomatoes are tired out. So am I!

Enough on noses..........................I get to go to Germany in November. I'm pretty excited about it. :)
Germany- fun! I've never been anywhere out of the country- St. Thomas is the furthest I've ever been. Had a nephew (or, ex-nephew?) stationed over there for a few years and his parents went there every year to see him. Saw some neat pictures!

Are you going to Lutherland?

Yeah, between arranging for transport of 100's of new cars to dealerships, putting a new door in the house, having a bug, making salsa and play practice- visiting here has kinda taken a back seat!

Oh- and a word to the wise- if you put a new door in an old house make sure you have plenty of extra patience, and any help you can get your hands on! I expected the worse and was STILL exasperated!

Please don't laugh.....but I'm not totally sure where we are going. I think Munich. My hubby's boss is taking care of all the arrangements.....hubby never asks questions! :doh:How would it look if the wife called her husband's boss to see exactly where and what is on the agenda? ^_^

Lucky you. I can hardly wait to see mainland Europe, but we're waiting until spring. I've seen pictures of some frozen parts of Germany in the winter. Maybe it won't be that cold yet in November. :sorry:

What part of Deutschland are you visiting?
