  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Anyone else think it's hilarious that he previously said he'd never be someone's Vp?? Or that Obama was not ready to be president?? LOL!...So much for convictions when greed for power is involved.....
I find it hilarious that he, 1, picks a guy who's old enough to be his granddad, 2, a guy who spent 30 years in the Senate when Bams constantly criticizes McCain for being in there for 25 years, 3, a man who ran for the nomination and lost. If his experience was all that, then he would not have lost the primary.

And if Bams was sincere about change and thinking 25 years in the senate is a bad thing, then he'd be pushing for term limits and if we really had those then we could really begin to re shape the gov.

Yes, change is needed, let's start with getting those career politicians and political dynasty families the heck out of there, not promote one to VP.

This is just more of his double speak, "I'm for it but I'm also against it."

So yeah- the VP pick has been in the Senate for 30 years, he's been in for 2. Makes Bams look real good... I think it was a dumb move on Bams part. It totally undermines his capabilities, assuming he has any and this further proves Bams is just the Demo puppet they put up there because he is black and appealing.
;)
It's being said it was the island he was born on that wasn't at the time but I just heard this on the Radio- just passing on the info mam.

Hubs keeps arguing that even though Hawaii was entered in the union in 59, you still would not be considered a citizen. Like if you are born in puerto rico- you aren't a citizen... I dunno- just passing on the info.

But it's not about race, it's about whether or not he would sympathise with Islamic ideas and really put us at risk. His real dad was a radial Muslim, hey- just saying. Bams himself was educated in Indonesia as a Muslim. Hey, just saying.
;) SO he isnt actually an American born.
So shouldnt that automatically disqualify him?

Ding! Ding! Ding!! Correct answer!! Which means OSama would have to be how old to be born there before it was a state?

My mom is a drug addict...doesn't make me a drug addict, in fact it helped me to see just how crazy dependency makes a family and how destructive it is. We cannot be measured by what our parents were or even are.....

(Don't get me wrong I am not a big Obama fan, nor a big McCain fan--but I just hate irrational opposition, when there are so many good reasons to think they're all schmoes.)
Not crazy for them either.
[I shudder at this Nov's election]

But i wanted to chime in that i have known alcoholics who have had children with alcoholic problems as well.
It all depends on how little or how much we were raised to see the 'fault' as either natural or perhaps evil.

If someone saw their dad drinking themselves sick and started drinking too, they obviously didnt find it abhorrent.
However; if said dad beat said child, the child would them loathe the alcohol and then again PERHAPS come to use it as an excuse to be just as abusive.

SO if Obama's dad brainwashed him or otherwise taught him how good Islam is, then it's a chance we would end up taking if he felt any compulsion towards it...or allied himself to any ties. [and do we know if he has?]
I dont like risks...not really. I like some challenges, but risks arent my thing. Like i would not necessarily play russian roullette because the chance is 1/6th of death.

As for Biden - he's a worldly sort who needs to worry more about what the Church actually teaches about abortions!!! IE - he's a sell out.

Obama was born in Hawaii, which is one of the fifty states that make up the United States of America. Apart from a few years aboard, he grew up in the American heartland - the midwest. His grandfather served in, I think it was, World War I or World War 2 in the American military.

Actually, of the two candidates, only John McCain was born in a foreign country -- Panama, which is south of Mexico and Nicaragua. The only reason he's able to run for President at all is that he was born to American parents living in the Panama canal zone, which used to be administered by our military personnel according to a treaty agreement with the Panamanian government. It's hard to believe that McCain's people actually complain about where *Obama* was born, when one realizes where McCain was born. Personally, I don't think it's very relevant either way, but if it were relevant, Obama would be on much firmer ground than McCain.

Seriously, are the Obama fans in here so starstruck that they are drinking all this kool-aid without thinking about it? It's really laughable... Still, Biden's experience really does highlight Obama's lack thereof.

Point Number 4:

Obama lived in a Muslim country for much of his younger live but never actually studied Islam or attended any Islamic schools.

Barack Obama says differently, 2Cos...

"In the Muslim school, the teacher wrote to tell mother I made faces during Quranic studies," Barack Obama, Dreams From My Father.

Point Number 8:

All of this is can be found easily using the Internet and a decent search engine

It seems it is easy to find facts...

Point number 1:
During the second World War the commies were our allies, the fascist and the Nazi's were our enemies. We put on USO shows for Russian troops during the Second World War. (Really, a women of your age and educational background should know that)

War makes strange bedfellows. That does not mean we trusted their motives, nor wanted Communism to have a presence within our government. As soon as it became evident that the axis was defeated, we began focusing on Soviet containment. After all, "...whoever occupies a territory imposes upon it his own social system. Everyone imposes his own political system as far as his army can reach. It cannot be otherwise. If now there is not a Communist government in Paris, it is because Russia does not have an army to reach it in 1945," --Joseph Stalin. We couldn't have that...

OK...this is food for thot.

And seriously, I cannot see Obama winning. Its just this simple.

In an effort to bring more attention to Barack Obama's friendship with 60's domestic terrorist William Ayers, The American Issues Project has released this ad. It reminds viewers that Obama has called Ayers, who led a radical group that once declared war on the United States, "respectable" and "mainstream."

The point I was making is that we are NOT our parents. At some point who and what we are as adults is a result of our own decisions and reactions to our upbrining. Obama says he's a Christian- my gracious it's infantile to just scream back "No he isn't!".

Secondly--Barak Obama was born in the hospital in Honolulu, a couple years after Hawaii became a state. There is no doubt to whether or not he is a natural born citizen.

Up to this point, if we compare the campaigns (which alread just so negative)-McCain's campaign has far more untruths and half truths in it's pocket levelled against Obama, than Obama's campaign against McCain. Likely it's merely that McCain has spent more money and put more ads out, and that as we wander towards Novemeber the untruth and half truth will be equally divided.

The old adage - "the apple doesnt fall far from the tree", has some truth to it.

Ok, well Shannon, if a man is born today in Mexico, and Mexico decides in two years to be join the states, is he American born or not?

That's a question i think needs to be reviewed a bit. I dont know the laws of being CEO of the US all that much to know if a change over occurs it automatically elevates them to citizen born. OR perhaps it was never addressed before.
Wish i knew the 'small print' on this subject...

So anyway - what ad in particular do you feel is untrue?

From what i have seen, it doesnt actually take all that much to discredit Obama.
Just show a video of him saying something, then show him contradicting it. And i have seen that coming from Obama.

So far, logic tells me that is not untruth from McCain, it is untruths from Obama.

Not that my parents are bad or anything because they are not- but thanks for saying this. Not that I'm a fan of Obama but for example: it would be kind of unnerving for someone to think I'm secretly a Muslim because my heritage is.

According to Obama's autobiography, when he was about 6, his mother met and married an Indonesian man, who became his stepfather. They moved to Indonesia, but, because his mother was dissatisfied with their educational system, she sent Barak back to her parents in Hawaii, where he was sent to Catholic school. He lived in Indonesia for less than two years.

His mother and grandparents did not sound exceptionally religious, but it seems as if Catholicism influenced his childhood more than Islam did.

It really is a shame he or Hillary couldn't take a stand for morality.

It really is a shame he or Hillary couldn't take a stand for morality.

Hillary Clinton has practiced the Methodist faith all her life.

The Methodist faith is very strong on social justice, but "morally relative" on abortion.

True to her faith, and to the preachers who lead her in prayer every week, she has adopted the morality of her faith. She is very strong on social justice, but "morally relative" on abortion.

Does the woman have to do handstands from the church steeples to convince you she's moral? You may disagree with the moral principles her faith espouses, but she follows them to a "T." In that way, she is a much better Methodist than almost any Catholic politician is a Catholic.

Similarly, the United Church of Christ is a very liberal denomination. This Church shaped Barak Obama's views on morality, but by their standards he is as moral as can be.

So take a stand, Hawko. Say, "The Methodist and United Church of Christ preach immorality, and members of those churches who adhere to their tenets are immoral" or hold your peace.
