  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

How long did it take?

For those of you who's divorce is final, how long did it take? Right now we've been seperated for nearly 6 months and it's nearly over. We just have to sign off on our agreements about custody arrangements, child support and how we split our stuff..then the judge signs it, and as far as I know..BAM! I'll finally be free. I was just wondering how long it took other people.

Separated in very late december of /06; Canadian law states you must be separated for 1 year before you can begin legal proceedings, fast forward to late December /07; Didn't have the money until late January of /08

Divorce papers signed by judge in mid-march /08; The law states you must wait 31 days from the date the papers are signed before the divorce is truly final, so mid-April.

Total time. 1 year 4 months.

On an off note:
Total cost of filing: $500
Total cost of my sanity waiting for the divorce to be final: Huge
Being happily remarried? Priceless.
