CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The show comes on Wednesday here and that is my day off from school. It is the only show I get to watch during the week. I miss House!

So a quick recap on last night first:
Jessica and Will-- The jive was lively, the flip over was nice, and her dress was ugly. What can I say? I feel sorry for her and am not won over by Will. As for the contemporary routine... honest to goodness, I felt like I was sitting through a sex scene. I think, though, had I not been so embarrassed that I would have enjoyed the emotion behind the scene.
Comfort and Thayne-- In the Broadway she was hot. Him? Not so much. In the smooth waltz, her dress was pretty and she looked gorgeous and ethereal in that lift, but it seemed wooden in places and there was no passion.
Kourtni and Matt-- Hip-hop, hmmm? I thought her scarf was a mistake, for starters. And smooth or not, it was too soft for my tastes. The middle-end was better and they were more in synch, but it was all just okay (I thought he did better than her). In the mambo their outfits were so UGLY!!! Who on earth hired these designers? She shakes rather well, but the judges were right. There was no together fire.
Chelsea and Mark-- She needed to be smoother and quicker in that waltz. All in all, not as good as last week and I thought they should've made lip contact at the very end
And again, another ugly dress in the foxtrot, but she stepped it up for me.
Twitchington-- Yeah, I bought into the name, but only because it's shorter to type. The pasa doble was strong and fiery, though it didn't feel like a "fight". And the outfits were good. But WOW the contemporary was good. It was so sweet and sorrowful and different. I wondered somewhat if there should have been more together passion (as opposed to individual passion just aimed at the other person), but didn't know if that was actually possible due to the storyline. And did anyone see their faces when the judges said that the lovesick thing was "believable" with the two of them? Priceless.
Katee and Joshua-- Her hair was awfully funky in that contemporary number, but her expressions were good and both of their movements were very sharp and crisp. All in all, very nicely done and very cool. The West Coast Swing... no. Not really, no. Her dress fringe thing was hideous, she smiled too much, and it just lacked pizzazz. The end? That was cool.
Courtney and Gev-- She was hitting harder than him in that hip-hop number! I was so proud. She was really rocking it and being totally believable. It was actually pretty good and I liked it, which the judges did not. This was totally opposite from the Broadway number, which the judges loved and I didn't. I felt like they could have gone bigger, somehow, and the flop on the floor at the end was just overdone.

As for tonight, I was totally at ease to let Matt or Gev leave, but then Gev pulled out that AWESOME solo, so leaving was out of the question. As for the girls, I found brown Courtney's solo frenetic, Comfort's boring, and blond Kourtni's at least marginally interesting. Go figure that the only one I liked was booted.

Can I just say that I absolutely loath Mary Murphy? Her voice, the screaming... ugggg it drives me and my husband BONKERS! We can't even watch it live because we need to fast forward through her commentary.

I totally agree with you. She's the main reason I can't get my husband to keep watching past the audition stage. He did okay up until last week, but this week he said he was done until the finale. I wonder if the producers know she is costing the show viewers.

That's a good thought snooch. If I were a letter writer I would be tempted to write in and let them know they are losing viewers because of her. I mean... her screaming actually hurts my ears. It's horrid.

I was busy Wednesday, so I missed Mark and Chelsie's first number (later went back, wasn't bad), but their Broadway was okay. The lyrics, as mentioned by a judge, so did not match the choreography (at least in the verses), but they did it well.
Comfort and Thayne were both only okay in both numbers. They did technically well in the hip-hop, but there was no total WOW, and the contemporary stunk for Comfort. Thayne did well, but she didn't, and it didn't make me feel anything at all.
Jessica and Will... The first one was... really weird. The emotion was good, but the dancing was weird. Honestly, do they ever NOT like a choreographer? As for the quickstep, the beginning and end were neat, but their grins were stupid. And Mia Michaels needs to SHUT UP. Whether it was true or not, smashing Jessica into the ground like that by saying Will looked so tired and needed a new partner was unbearably rude.
Courtney and Gev's chacha was meh. Her gold thing was ridiculous and I've never liked [wash my mouth][wash my mouth][wash my mouth][wash my mouth][wash my mouth][wash my mouth] dances, no matter how well they're danced. But the jazz? That was nice! They were both fierce and hot and it was all just really cool.
Twitchington did a crump and I cringed when they announced it, but honestly? They did well. She was kinda spilling out there, but BOY Twitch nailed it. And yes, Kher visibly tired (big no-no), but her wolf-like posture and visage through the first parts were great. The Smooth Tango? Uh-uh. They both had the right facial expressions, but there was no animosity, no fire. It was all too measured and paced. It should have been a Tasmanian Devil tornado thing, but on some moves I could almost see the numbers above their heads as they counted out the beats.
Katee and Joshua-- I thought the Viennese Waltz was supposed to be a stiff dance? Isn't that what Nigel said last time? Well, her dress was pretty, but I didn't see the whole ghost thing. That's really all I can say. But the Bollywood dance-- a first-- that was pretty cool. Dorky, with the whole rigid jerky arm things, but hot. Very nice.

I'm glad Jessica's safe (LOVED her solo), sad Thayne's gone, uncommited over Comfort, and completely tickled over Twitch's solo.

I couldn't post here until after Friday because we had a local natural disaster (wildfire) and the results show was pre-emted with news coverage. I have to say though that some of the numbers were great. And I agree with judges decision to boot Comfort. She's good at what she does but she never could connect with her partner nor the audience. She also didn't master some of the styles. The only sad note was losing the guy. I really liked him. The obnoxious note was Cat's hair! What a mess! And the one swirlly piece that just wouldn't stay in place drove me nuts. The hair and makeup folks can ditch that do.

I've seen so many shows now where they say the word "Bollywood" and everyone is like, "Uhh... what's that?"
I don't like it... but I have to admit, it's HUGE right now.

As for Comfort, I don't think that she was the greatest female hip hop dancer. She's good... definitely better than Napoleon and that girl who they have coordinating all of the wimpy cotton-candy hip hop routines this season (Yes, I miss Shane Sparks). But I don't think she's the "best".
It was her time to go, but I still didn't like the way that the judges were strategically trying to sway the viewers into disliking her. It was almost as if they'd criticize her if she flew to the moon and brought back a glass of water for all the judges.

Well, I'm surprised they brought Comfort back to replace Jessica and even more surprised that she didn't get booted a second time. I think she was expecting it and so was the audience. Although she didn't do as well this past week, I think Kherington was a better dancer than Comfort, IMO. It will be interesting to see how she fares with the rest of the competition now.
As for Nigel's choreographed routine, I knew he did it as soon as the song started. Joe Jackson is a Brit and I loved his 80's hit single Steppin' Out. Frankly, it appeared amateurish compared to most of the other routines we see on the show. I was pleasantly surprised that Mia's was respectful and ethereal in keeping with the song. Ave Maria is a very sacred song to Catholics and when it started I feared something weird or profane. Fortunately, it wasn't. I think Mia does some of the most profound work on the show.

I sat through it with my sister and my cousin and we kept trying to figure out what on earth was going on. Girls... with long hair and no makeup were throwing themselves about in their old-fashioned underclothes and... dying? Having epileptic fits? We weren't quite sure. Actually, it looked like some really strange deleted scene from the Little Women with Christian Bale. And it was hard to recognize any of the girls without their makeup! We only managed to find Comfort and Katee at first because of their ethnicities.
Did anyone understand Katee and Will's last number? I must confess that I did not. These two people were dancing around in 80's acid-wash swimsuits, flopping their limbs about and grimacing in odd manners... one was without a shirt, which I think was supposed to draw my attention, but it did not...
