  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Sans Scripture, Evolution?

Without the Bible, would scientists back then still teach evolution?

I computed it myself, so it's now officially an Independent Fundamentalist interpretation --- ;)

Great, so now you understand why Ussher was wrong. Nothing in the bible tells us these geneaologies are complete, particularly if you understand the etymology of the hebrew word meaning begat.

It is vitally important to read the original copies of the books of the bible rather than our current translations and trans-literations.

Genesis One wouldn't leave any evidence, as my Apple Challenge shows. So what specifically would you be looking for? Indeed, what could you look for?

This is where we diverge. You are happy to have faith in an interpretation. I would rather know for sure that I am correct.

Not in Genesis One though.

So, Adam and Eve didn't eat? The bible clearly indicates otherwise. Eating destroys living cells; therefore, there was death.

Genesis Two says God rested from His Creation. This means He ceased. If evolution is true, then He continued His creation right up to just recently, when Homo sapien came on the scene.Indeed I am.

He may have ceased creating the physical processes, but the processes could continue. You assume that evolution continuing would mean that God had a hand in every instance of evolution - with which I disagree.

Scientists "back then" taught evolution even with the Bible -- and still do.

But clinging on to "sacred" mythology has hindered scientific knowledge in many fields -- not just biology.

Then you "independently" made the same error the Irish Bishop did -- assuming the numbers involved were complete and accurate just because some pastor told you they came from God.

A reason to worship such a cowardly God.

Tuckered Himself out, did He? Omnipotence doesn't last as long as one might think.

This means He ceased. If evolution is true, then He continued His creation right up to just recently, when Homo sapien came on the scene.

And continues to do so even now -- if you wish to worship a God who's thrown in the towel on His creation, you go right ahead.

3. There was death in Genesis - Adam and Eve ate and therefore killed living cells.

Not in Genesis One though.
WRONG. From Genesis 1:

29 And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.

30 And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.

 --- guilty on both counts.
Only Fundies think that Ignorance is Holy.

Any evidence that the earth being older than 6100 years would falcify your theory for a start.

No, it wouldn't --- I already [somewhat] agree that the earth is 4.57 billion years old.

"Somewhat" = Omphalos.
I was actually going to make the point that if this is embedded history without age, then we have the Omphalos Hypothesis; but I think Psudopod is trying to get me to say that this earth is 4.57 billion years old because it grew that old, and I don't believe that.

Embedded Age is age w/o growth.

Embedded age means a deceptive, lying god. Is that your god, AV?

The problem is that Age is time + history; Age w/o history or time is Omphalos.

No --- my God documented what He did, when He did it, where He did it, why He did it, how He did it, and who the eyewitnesses were; and even preserves that Documentation for everyone to read.

How about yours?

If you believe in Embedded Age, then the Earth and everything in it (including your memories from before) could have been created yesterday and you wouldn't know. It's an unfalsifiable position.
That is called Last Thursdayism, and is falsified (pwned) by a literal interpretation of the Scriptures; which this challenge demonstrates.

QV please.

No, Omphalos is embedded history --- a false history that never occurred.

Too bad not a word of it is trustworthy -- if a mere mortal scientist was caught red-handed tampering with his experiment in order to match up with his writings, he'd be out of a job.

I gues we just hold God to a higher standard.
