  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

You seem to be confused, here. See, the role of an adviser is to advise. The person being advised weighs the input he receives and makes a decision based on his own judgment. It is possible to take advise from someone you disagree with on a number of things. It is clear that Obama values Wright's spiritual advise, even if he disagrees with Wright's stance on racial relations.

Ahh, so we are to trust that Obama will listen to good advice and reject bad advice? Who advised him to censure turkey? Who advised him to use the same "cowboy diplomacy" that he lambasted Bush for when Obama talked about invading Pakistan? And what, exactly, sort of spiritual advice did Wright give Obama? And why, if he still valued his spiritual advice, did he so quickly dump him from the campaign instead of saying, "here's a few dozen sermon tapes that I agree with and have helped me in my walk with the Lord."?

LOL Now you claim to know the hearts of others? Dannager, if you knew me or even read my posts these past few months, you'd know that's not the case. I much preferred Obama over Hillary, as I think he's generally an honest guy. He's got no major skeletons in his closet, no Whitewater or drunk driving arrest or fishy Purple Hearts. I think he's fairly up front, as opposed to Lady MacBeth, and I've said as much. Now the heat is on him, and how he handles this situation will reflect how he handles similar incidents should he get elected.

I prefer him as well. I can't stand to look at Hillary and listening to her makes me want to claw my ears off. And, Obama's a White Sox fan. But he's also a liberal and that makes him bad for America. Better than Hillary, but bad overall.

Wonder if he is wearing a flag pin too:

ABC News: Barack Obama Drops U.S. Flag Pin

Lots of slavery talk in this speech. So much for "moving forward" eh?

From his response, he sounds to me like he opposes America. He doesn't wear the flag pin apparently because he doesn't believe God should bless America, rather he agrees with his pastor that America is unworthy of God's blessing

Obama is running around saying he doesn't agree with his spiritual mentor of 20 years while some Obama supporters on the net are agreeing with Rev. Wright or making excuses for him.

Most amusing.
Yesterdays Rasmussen poll put Wright favorable rating down in the single digits.
3 out of 4 people found his remarks to be divisive, including 58% of blacks.
I suspect the others are either so far left they don't see it or circling the wagons for the Obamessiah.
Good to see he's got some apologists on the CF.

Thanks Carey :) Okay, so Oreilly spoke the truth by saying we have a white male Christian power structure. A black Rev says the same thing yet HE is the one called an ignorant racist? There have also been plenty of white ministers/groups that blame 9E on gays etc yet the level of outrage got nowhere close to this. At least the Rev was being honest when he said our foreign policies played a role in the attacks.

Difference being Wright says its a bad thing and the whites are bad for society outside their race.

They are only looking to do their job well enough to stay in power.

O'reilly is not blasting them and blaming them for 9'11:doh:

Use common sense here^_^

Wright didnt say white people are to blame for 9E. He said white males are in charge. Oreilly said the same thing. Also, Wright isnt Duke so the question hasnt been answered.

No Wright said white Government is to blame for all the problems of Dark people.

If you do not believe me Google his videos on You tube and listen to his bogtted extremely racist words from his own evil lips.

He is worse than Duke.

Not a bit harsh.

Me and Joel are from different parts of the same body of Christ.

His function is different than mine just as the different organs in our bodies perform different functions.

Joels road is easier I admit and I do love his sermons.
But they are all pretty much the same and get boring after a while.

I call his ministry the first stones in a stepping stone path for unbeleivers and babes in the word.

As one grows in the word questions will arise his ministry cannot answer.

But I love Lakewood and its purpose soooo necessary for soooo many .

And if we walk away now, if we simply retreat into our respective corners, we will never be able to come together and solve challenges like health care, or education, or the need to find good jobs for every American.

There you go. Because every white person is a racist, even his very own grandma, socialism is the only possible way to make everyone equal.

Sounds like his pastor has really affected him more than I thought. Of course, since he opened the speech by admitting he'd lied about not hearing that type of thing, I'm not surprised.

Obama's history is coming home to roost:

Obama--Fire Imus
Obama First White House Contender to Call for Imus' Firing Over Racial Slur

ABC News

"I understand MSNBC has suspended Mr. Imus," Obama told ABC News, "but I would also say that there's nobody on my staff who would still be working for me if they made a comment like that about anybody of any ethnic group. And I would hope that NBC ends up having that same attitude." . . .

Is it the "D" next to his name that shields him from being identified as a hypocrite or is it something else?

That's a good point. When was the last time a politician with a D next to his name was called a racist by liberals after making racist remarks

How is that hypocritical at all? He said he'd remove anyone who made racial slurs like that, and he has. Are you still trying to make this an issue, even to the point of being dishonest about it?
