  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

you are so ridiculous

first video === propaganda
second video ===== acting
third video ====== convert or no food
fourth video ==== biggest liar

i knew you were going to pull out these ... thats why i was decisive in asking you to do so

you cannot produce videos with heart of people embracing the religion .... no actors, no propaganda, real people, real news

I am going to come defences of the Christians here for just a moment (I for one think the battle of Converts is just silly and pointless of both sides) but why is it that there all lies, I mean could it be possibal that maby there are Ex-muslims who became Christians?

This qustions can work against some Christians here as well, could there be such thing as Ex-Christians who becamse muslims?

Why is it that there cant be such thing of an Ex-Muslims or Ex-Christian?

Again, how do you know it's from God? You really don't know that. No one

We would have to know if God exist to do that, now wouldn't we?

a book that is not composed by humans, preached by prophets that performed miracles, claiming that they are empowered by God to do so.

a book that speaks to you rationally and answers all your question about life without contradictions and false arguments.

For starters, you can't be "born" as a particular religion. You either choose to follow, or you you're brought up with and it's all you know. I know it seems like I'm bombarding you with questions, but since we're under the assumption that God exist, how do you know what God would want from us? Assuming that God would want anything from us. You don't have to argue with me whether the Quran is miraculous because I don't believe it is.

Islam is not that all I know. The world is more open than it used to be.

Like I said, once I accepted the Quran as a book from God (heart-warming, cannot be imitated, rational arguemnts, prophecies, confirmation with science), I found all my answers about life.

read my first post. it was not me who started or took the the thread as a competition.

What do you make of this? : http://skepticsannotatedbible.com/quran/contra/by_name.html

You did not answer his question, how do you know the Koran is from God?

you follow what is good for you....
God is good. :)
if not following God results in less painful eternity .. then you are right
I can choose not to follow an evil God, the notion of all infidels burning forever in hell because they made a mistake is unforgivable. Such a God is not worthy of worship, and is evil.

as far as we are concerned, we do not have prophets in our times to prove that they are divine. so the book must stand out as divine through times. this is what Quran is.

verses put out of context and their inaccurate english translation is taken literally.

You did not answer his question, how do you know the Koran is from God?

personally ....

1400 years of no change at all. one Quran owned by 2 billion muslims.

1400 years and no one so far was able to beat it in composing a similar or better book (at least one chapter) .... there are attempts recorded in history and failed

agreement with science when God talks about human body, universe, and so on

prophecies that have been fulfilled

the way it glorifies God and debates with the reader in a rational manner

spiritual enlightenments and reactions when reciting the Quran (this is a personal proof for myself)

this all i can think of now

assuming that God is evil .. that is assuming that you comprehend life better than God

it is smarter to cut your losses and submit if you want to avoid eternity in hell

you can be a macho and resist if there is a bigger God that someday you can appeal to in order to punish this evil God.

Because Muhammad is the last prophet. Look at what happened to Bahálullah.

I've heard this before. I don't buy the notion of 'Koran can only be read in Arabic'. Most of the Muslim world doesn't know Arabic.

The Koran also teaches that sperm comes from a man's ribs. There's no way of proving that it wasn't compiled and abrogated before. I will agree with you that the Koran hasn't been changed in 1400 years.

I've read the Koran in both English and with Arabic and a commentary. I disagree it is enlightening.

Because Muhammad is the last prophet. If someone says they are a prophet in a Muslim state they will be killed. Notable examples are Bahálullah and the Báb.
Untranslatable Koran argument?

Do a search. One example is: the Koran also teaches that sperm comes from a man's ribs. There's no way of proving that it wasn't compiled and abrogated before it was 'published'. I will agree with you that the Koran hasn't been changed in 1400 years. At least, we don't have any proof it has been.

I've read the Koran in both English and with Arabic and a commentary. I see it as vicious. If this is enlightening, I would have nothing to do for it.

Don't put words in my mouth, I never said that.

Don't try and threaten me. I believe in God, just not the Muslim one or the Christian one where they send people to burn in hell forever even though they know everything that will ever happen.

you can be a macho and resist if there is a bigger God that someday you can appeal to in order to punish this evil God.
I already believe in God, thank you very much.

LOL, I can't help but say this:
"You heard it here first, folks."

On a serious note: I, also, am religious. But I am not so avidly so that I am overtly superstitious and I am open-minded to other religions.

I'll have you know, I almost became a Muslim at one point. I chickened out because of crazy people and overtly strict laws, that and I didn't feel it would be a wise choice and if I wanted to change my mind, I could not: I would be killed..

I will not join a faith where the penalty of leaving is death.

You seem like a cool person randomman, I think we're just trying to understand where you're coming from.

Hey Innocent, you almost converted to Islam and chickened out? You know you should have did an experiment to see what it would be like to be a Muslim for at least one week.

I'm thinking about doing that with Hinduism.

be a reasonable man

I am a reasonable man and by reason you should not let these videos lead you on, any kind of video for any purpose can be produced. Argue your religion, and then maybe you can convince someone. From the rest of your posts in this thread within the past 2 days, I can't say others think you are reasonable either.

first one is taking advantage of desperate africans and their primitive understanding

I say, that is pure muslim propaganda because they lose millions... (On another note, Christians are not really bent on numbers, you have to keep that in mind, we don't measure truth by numbers)
second one is really acting .... really really acting

I say, that is your prejudice.

third one is a Christian documentary .... definitely a propaganda

How can a documentary be propaganda, explain... If I see a documentary about the pagan rituals that go on in Mecca every year, do I say "propaganda"? You confused your priorities here.

fourth one is the biggest pig on earth ... this guy has been disowed by the coptic church in egypt

I say that is your propaganda, guy is a former muslim right?

i was expecting personal testimonies with home videocam

I gave you a better chance! One on one, here is ME! You have questions?

anyways .... i am not here to compete over numbers ... i want to see what christians feel or how they react to listening to these stories deep from the heart

How do I tell that they are from the heart? Can I just call them "pigs" and assume they are acting? See how your arguments can be turned around?

just what the heart feels

You are going to meet lots of atheists on this board who from the heart believe that there is no god, now what?

very wise of you to have such mentality. i do not agree with your conclusion to stay catholic because i believe in islam. but more importantly is that you have got the right mentality. i pray to God that he guides you to the correct religion which will earn you eternity in paradise. amen.

Oh I don't believe this. Let's translate it,
you seem to have the right mentality but I am told not to believe what you say or what you believe just because what I was told! I pray you change that mentality and follow my mentality!

you follow what is good for you.... if not following God results in less painful eternity .. then you are right

And that might mean YOU ARE WRONG! I have got nothing else to say to your mentality unfortunately!

One needs to be scared of converting? Why don't you try Islam for one week Fruit? Keep up with the advice and pack the bags to Jordan or Egypt or better yet, Dearborn, Michigan, how about that? Internet talking is easy.

the oiriginal intent of this thread was to see the reaction and enlightenment of christians who watch these reversions. be it strengthening their own faith or the opposite. these real stories are a very good mix of emotions, faulty insecure humanity, intelligence, prejudice ... etc there is so much to learn from them

however, what happened to this thread shows how little trust and tolerance there is between christians and muslims on this forum ... as soon as i asked the question, i was faced with a direct attack which prompted me to attack back, thus deviating from the topic
