  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

So while I was thinking about how awful it's going to be to actually be SINGLE on Valentine's Day... and starting to feel sorry for myself, I thought, ya know, it's just like any other day. It is any other day, just with a label. Who cares?

I have to work on Valentine's Day, and I am actually kinda glad. I won't be thinking about the fact that it is Valentine's Day that much.

But for those of you who have nothing better to do that night and don't want to be stuck home alone throwing a pity party, let's brainstorm some ideas for alternatives!!!

1. Go to the gym, shoot some hoops, or go on a run.
2. Go to a coffee shot and get your favorite cup of cappuccino and read your favorite book.
3. Go to the movies, yes, by yourself. Get a the biggest cup of soda and the biggest tub of popcorn you can buy!
4. Did anyone say "GROUP DATE!"
5. Take your mom out.

I was speaking with a guy just the other day about how Valentine's Day is a bunch of bologna any way... Why should you have to wait for a special day to tell someone you love them or that they are special to you?

It's a horrible ploy by corporate America to get more of our money.

DON'T GIVE IN!!!

teehee.

 Thanks for the encouragement. I guess us fellows tend to take Valentines Day better than the ladies. I've personally never really cared for it, although I really like the candy hearts.

I have a sort of anti-valentine's day "date", if you could call it that. My friend is cooking me dinner, she's coming down from St. Catherine's! I am pretty excited about it! Furthermore, I am going to be at school for most of the day, so that will also help me to get my mind off of it! :D

I'll be working that night, filling Viagra prescriptions.
HAAHahaHAHAAhaHAHA
Valentine's day for the grandparents...

Those are some creative ideas up there, gottabemore2life.

Now, that's if youre just a typical single person.
if you happen to be bitter/michevious,
there's a million anti-valentine's-day things you can do, like:

1) walk around wearing a black t-shirt with a symbol like this on it
anti-valentine.jpg

have 20 or so made and pass them out to as many single people
around school as possible

2) if there's someone in your job or classes that you know is a jealous type and you know will get like 5 boquets of roses, order 6 for yourself and tell the florist to put different sender's names on each....jealousy will ensue.

3) write "secret admirer" notes and put them in random people's boxes

of course, this is all funny stuff, im not suggesting do any of this if it will get u in trouble or hurt someone's feelings.

Hehe, I can't wait to see how you feel when you have a special guy to spend valentines day with. Suddenly it goes from "This day sucks! It's only a ploy by corporate America!" to "I love valentines day! teehee! teehee! "

lol, sorry I just couldn't help myself :p I'm just teasing you!

For me, I absolutely love valentines day!!! It's just another excuse to express my big heart and creativity. It's a special way to do the valentine day stereotypical romantic stuff, but in my own unique creative way!

Big Heart + Creative Mind = Happy Girl

I advise that anyone who doesn't have a special someone to do Valentines day with- they do valentines day with God. He is incredibly special and has a perfect spot in everyone's heart. Make it romantic too.
What a sweet God He is! It doesn't have to be big either. God isn't big on extravagance, He is a simple, humble Person.
You could buy a rose, don't tell Him about it, take it home, then surprise Him by giving it to Him and putting it up in your room for everyone to see!
Great idea though, He'd be so flattered and would love it! Just don't tell Him you're making secret surprise plans for Him! Don't want to ruin the surprise :D

Oh or an even better idea! (Jk, it's not better, it's worse! lol) if you're a girl, send me a valentine- and be creative. I love attention- but only if there's a lot of effort involved!!! I'm worth mucho effort! Go all or go home!!! lol, I'm jk, do the God thing don't pay attention to me please! Okay really I only say that to hint at the idea to a few girls here, especially from, *ahem*, cute girls like the OP.

oops.gif
did I make it way too obvious I would love a valentine surprise from her? How embarassing!
I am way too blunt and honest for my own good!

Gottabe - my sister and I used to be each other's Valentine dates if we both happened to be single on Valentine's day. We would get each other a card and a little gift and go out to dinner together.

I highly recommend doing this with a sister or good friend to all the single ladies - it was always lots of fun! :D

Dear gottabemore2life,

It is my regret to inform you that I have left the thread. I hope that some day we may meet again by circumstance, perhaps another time, another thread. I wish you the best of luck until we meet again. I am sure fate will have us cross paths in this big vast world of ours.
