• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Sounds good, the Progressive forum is always ready for open dialog. I just thought the presentation was very helpful to show the statements of people in the 1800's on the idea expressed in the amalgamation statement.

I am not sure that I can do that right now - I have been feeling drained by all the debating. I'll have to see.
MVA--I'm sorry, I know how you feel. The atmosphere in this whole forum, is not good. As a matter of fact--it feels down right evil.

I didn't always have the attitude I do now--it's been cultivated by this and other chat forums. I guess the nastiness of others has worn off on me. I guess it's true.....

What you behold --you become!

I know what you mean. Like I said before I have been feeling drained lately and it is really hitting me now. I had even contemplated taking a break, but haven't down that as of yet.

I thought the historical persective would be useful for those over here because of something Honor said on the prog forum:
When it was brought to my attention a few years ago on Yahoo that some were saying that she meant that man and animals were procreating--I laughed till I cried. I thought to myself' "how could any idiot actually think that she was referring that"? It still amazes me.

We can understand things much better when we know the history of a period and what they were thinking at the time. For instance even the chief supporter of Darwin, Thomas Huxley thought certain races in Africa were crosses between man and ape.

RC,

I will give you my word that I will finish the whole presentation. I have the next two days off from work and will try and do it during that time.

MVA--I took a whole year break from this place. Back in 2005, there were some members in this area that made fellowshipping such a burden-that I couldn't come back.

I needed much support at the time, but they were so busy bashing the church and EGW, that they had no time to comfort those who were hurting.
