  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I use divination when needed although not on a regular basis. I am not wonderful at it, but I am decent. I use runes, tarot cards (Rider-Waite, Sacred Circle, and Robin Wood), Elder Futhark runes, a pendulum (rarely) and really thats it. Lol.

I use Tarot Cards most often, although that will soon change as I plan on getting back into using runes more frequently again. I don't generally like using a pendulum (I just don't connect with them) and only use them on very rare occasions.

How about yourself? :)

1) I don't have faith that it will yield any results.
2) If Eris exists I find it more likely that she will purposely give me false results than anything else. Because it's funny.
3) I don't know how to divine (is that the right word?).
4) I don't want to know the future.
5) There is no number 5.
6) I don't subscribe to the idea of a predetermined fate.
7) Mostly because I don't like the idea.
8) If I could tell the future what would it matter? It's predetermined.
9) The cake is a lie.
10) Yay! Ten! I'm done now.

I do in a way, I suppose, in meditating. Things simply come to me. I think people who use tarot, etc, simply use an object to focus on and allow their innate abilities to come through.

I don't believe that the future is set in stone, so the future can't be predicted or seen, but you can seek guidance.

We are more connected to everything than we realize. That's why mothers talk about being able to know when their kids are in trouble, friends will think about each other and the phone will ring, etc.

Well said, and I do agree completely. I don't divine in order to tell the future or one that is supposedly set in stone. I use tarot, runes, etc. as tools to help me focus and allow my inner abilities come through. More of like if I keep doing "A" then "B" will likely occur, etc. Nothing is set in stone ever. :)

:doh:That's what I get for making assumptions about what you mean by divinitation. Though I got a little silly with my post anyways.

Lol, its quite alright. Many people when they think of divination they think of fortune telling, etc. I'd say for the serious practitioner who knows their stuff, using things like cards, runes, pendulums, scrying, etc. view divination as Beanieboy and myself have described above. Although don't get me wrong, there are many fruit bats who view divination as telling the absolute future, nothing will change your fate, and the death card means you'll die in a week. And to those people I roll my eyes and move on. Lol. Its all about intuition and realizing that the future is malleable and not set in stone. Its also about realizing that one won't be correct in their assessment every time so one must use logic as well as intuition when divining.

I saw The Golden Compass, and that is kind of what she does with the Truthometer thing - it tells the truth, makes you see things as they are.

That's part of what meditation and Buddhism focuses on - seeing things as they are, as opposed to what you want them to be.

I have often met people, and seem to simply know about them, or will have a voice that leads me to say something, go somewhere, with surprising results.. I chock it up to my Harry Potter spells that I've learned. Christianus Paranoius!

I've practiced reading Tarot, though I don't think I'm any good at it [yet].

It takes time and practice. I'm really only moderately decent at it. If you have no problem with Pagan websites, there is a class going on at MysticWicks.com for learning the tarot without using an interpretation book. Its a good class and may prove to be some help to you if you would like some tips on how to read the tarot better. :)

It also depends on the deck, the vast majority of decks have an inner energy about them that stems from their artwork and design. Some decks simply dont agree with people. The Rider deck is the most neutral I've found thus far.

I personally like tarot. I generally get the needed answers out of a reading and sometimes it helps to get a clearer sense of the problem or out of what I truly want.

Well posted, everyone.
I tend not to use divination too often, just every once in a while I'll get my rune program out and see what it has to say. It's usually in the ball park.
Um, I have a deck of tarot cards but I don't use it too often. but I do have a deck of assorted digimon, pokemon, marvel heroes, and tombraider cards that I used to use a lot. Pendulums, not so much anymore. They don't click with me very well.

Sometimes I'll go and think about the economy and where I think its going to go, where it could go; and sometimes I'll feel an undercurrent to things. I told my dad once to invest in gold, a pity he didn't. Right now, I feel an insecurity in consumer spending.

I currently have been thinking that something is going to drastically change. I'm not sure what it is, and often wonder if it has something to do with 2012, but I would say that it sometimes feels like simply a different way of being (think of the huge differences the internet has made between 1980 and 2000.) Sometimes, I feel like it is some kind of human evolution, not as dramatic as Heroes, but something more like the Civil Rights movement. Other times, I think it is a profound discovery, like contact from another planet, or proof of God. A shamana said that while she isn't a doomsday-er, she sees a time that may be like the Depression, and that you will need to know what plants are also medicine.

I only know that it feels like something is coming, but I just can't distinguish what it is because it is too far on the horizon.

Anyone every have that feeling?

Yeah, I get that sometimes. More often than I'd like.

To the OP, I practice divination. Not all the time. Just sometimes. :p I use tarot, though I'm not very good at it...I think part of the problem is that I don't really like my deck (I also suck at interpreting it), so I'm going to get a new one that clicks with me better and see if that helps. I also use a pendulum, which I honestly like better. I prefer tarot in that it provides a much more detailed reading, but a pendulum is easier for me to use, and it just works for me. I've never really had a problem with it. The one I use is a hematite point on a silver chain. I've always been really good with crystals, though, so that's most likely why it's working out for me. :p

That is quite true as well. I personally do not use the Rider deck often simply because it is too neutral and boring. I just don't get anything from it. I do, however, get a lot more from using the Robin Wood and Osho Zen tarot.
