I guess staff isn't going to answer my respectfully asked, fairly worded and important question.

I really hoped that it would be taken seriously, I still have many I consider to be friends on staff. I am truly disappointed that they will not answer me.

I think that, in that case, one of your Staffer friends would have at least dropped you a PM stating, "I don't know why, but that seems to be the rule now."
One would think so.

Revised report protocol

Reports will be semi-private, once we get the software re-coded.

Members will still receive a PM notifying them that their post was reported. Members will still be able to see the report graphic under their reported post.

The reported member will be allowed to read and respond in the report thread. However, the report thread will remain private, and should not be divulged to other than the RT, in accordance with the site wide rules.

In addition, harassment of staff in report threads, pm's or in the open forums is prohibited. The first violation will result in a 1 month ban, although no points will be given. Further harassment will result in infractions being issued.

How come the reported member can't post in the report, but the reporter can? Isn't that kind of backwards?

So does the member that makes the report get to post in the report threads too??

So far, at least in theology, only the member who does the reporting gets to participate.

I think there is a technical glitch still that they are working on. I think its only supposed to be the reported member that gets to interact with staff.

Has this policy been changed since this was posted? I received a notification that one of my posts were reported, yet I can not see the report.

Soon means different things depending on the staff member you talk to. For Erwin, soon meant 12 months or more. How long is soon?

If it is going to be a significant amount of time (bearing in mind how long it has been already) then why can we not simply to revert to the previous form of reports until this one is ready?

Any response to this, Constance (or anyone). How long is this going to be? If it is going to be much longer than can we simply revert to the old system until the new one is set up? If not, why not?

Hi Tom,

I don't really have all the answers to your question. But, I will try to address some of your questions anyway... :)

I do know that just today the permissions were reset so that only staff currently has access to reports. The way it was set up the last few weeks where the Reporter of the post had access was a mistake. This is a temporary measure until Lee's technical staff can re-code the permissions for the reports that will then allow reportees to view the reports and interact with staff in accordance with the OP Announcement.

Just from my limited experience in coding PHP, this may be a fairly daunting task as PHP sites include hundreds if not thousands of pages of codes, and needless to say -- millions of lines of coding.

I'm really not sure what other things are "on their plates" at the moment, but seeing as the permissions were changed today I would take that as a "good sign" that they are working on this right now... How long it will take them to fix this issue hasn't been stated. Sometimes when programmers start working on things it's not as easy as was originally thought. So, even though they could perhaps give us a date they think they will be finished it may not be fairly accurate. I know it will not be a YEAR from now though! LOL

As for re-opening the reports to all members, the reason this will not be done in the meantime, is because it is not inline with Lee's policy changes regarding access to the reports.

In the meantime, anyone who is reported can contact any or all of the moderators/Admins of the forum their reported post was located and can work with staff to defend themselves, give further information, etc... This will be encouraged, and moderators will work with the reported members in this way.

Thanks for your questions, and if there are any changes (i.e. if I find out when this will most likely be done by) I will post the answer here...

This strikes me as a rather long winded soluttion that creates extra work for already over worked staff.

Thats assuming that one can actually get staff to answer their PMs

Open reports would have made this far easier, but what would I know, I'm only a member
