Do you have to do more than reach out and touch Him?

No questions on this, except that God was there wasn''t He?The day, that I was 'nailed to the tree'
I was living in a street called LYNTON ROAD
it was in a Bristol Suburb called 'Bedminster' [in 1969]
My first-wife was expecting our second baby
and, had gone into labour
and was leaking amniotic liquor
We, were not ON THE PHONE and, the nearest phone box was over 700 yards away
using a path through an open space
>inside the block of housing that comprised a near-rectangle of housing
that was permitted to be overgrown with grasses and several burned-out cars
I ran to that phone box and called the midwife
who told me also to call an ambulance URGENTLY
On my return journey, I entered the pathway
that led into the open space and ran past some fencing
that ran down the side of someone's garden
I felt a burning pain in my leg just above my left knee
looking down, I could see no mark on my trousers
but my lower thigh continued to smart
and I could feel my hot-blood flowing down over my shin
I dropped my trousers, to examine the wound
and found a tear a full 5 inches long [125mm]
and could see tendons and muscle meat in the fissure
It was as if, I had been cut with a sharp knife [scalpel]
I stepped out of my trousers and my underwear
twisted my underwear
and slid the two legholes over my leg
to cover the wound and tied my handerkerchief
to hold it fast above my knee
I then got back into my undamaged trousers and ran home
with my left hand applying pressure to my thigh
The ambulance that took my wife to maternity
dropped me off at the A&E at the Bristol Royal Infirmary
after eleven stitches [four, internally] under local anaesthetics
I was at the maternity hospital, to watch son Robin
come into the world
On the way home 03.45hrs I walked back along the path and examined the fence
The only possible cause of my wound
was a six inch nail [150mm]
sticking out into the pathway, a full 100mm [4 inches]
Later that day , I went to the house
and drew their attention to the peril that this nail
could present to an unwary child
it was removed immediately
my scar is now just 3.5 inches long
and 1 inch deep
due-to skin stretching in that area of my thigh[since]
