  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Why, did he name his plow "evolution"?
I'm sure that you have had this explained to you time and time and time and time again but evolution has absolutely nothing to do with rock formations. Sure there are fossils found in rock formations, but evolution does not explain how these rock formations came to be.

Here I'll prove the flood did not happen. There are trillions of species of insects on our planet, Noah could not fit two of every species of insect on a boat, poor Noah would have jumped ship, seeing everything that creeped right on the ship. Perhaps the bible can't be taken to be literally true? What do you think?

I think that all the animals with their sub-species didn't board the Ark.

Only their "kind" did.

Personally I think it is one of two things:
  • One of the spots where "the fountains of the great deep" broke up.
  • Caused when God pulled the American continent away from the European continent.

One has to wonder, then, why it looks like a gorge, an eroded river bed and not at all like a fault.

This is what it looks like when funky things happen with tectonic plates:

thingvellir.jpg

For comparison, the grand canyon looks like this:

Grand%20Canyon%203.jpg

You may be able to notice the difference.

Why don't you leave the geology to the geologists, and stop making idle, unhelpful speculation which shows off your lack of knowledge?

Interesting hypothesis. Despite having nothing whatsoever to do with the actual process of rifting between N. Am and Europe, an even that is so totally distinct in geologic setting it makes me wonder how you could have come to that conclusion.

And which opening of the Atlantic? The opening of the Protoatlantic much earlier?

(Now to jump ahead a bit and gloss over a lot of detail)
And then of course this closed up in the Paleozoic to form a line of mountains you may have heard of called the APPALCHIANS:

The Appalachians were very big. Some estimates say they might have been higher than the Himalayas. I grew up on the SEDIMENT that eroded off of them over millions and millions of years. It's called the state of Illinois (along with Indian, Ohio, the rest of the Midwest). If you want to somehow "mash this all up" in your head as occuring over a one-year period, have at it. But the mind-boggling silliness of that hypothesis is really just entertaining more than anything.

Again, you are invited to actually learn some geology before you spout, but that would probably keep the fountains of your deep ignorance of the field from bursting forth with such regularity.

Enjoy!

Look I'll covience you the flood did not happen. Supposedly this flood happened, during a time when civilization was in existance, so this flood could not go back beyond thirty thosand years. Therefore, to keep a mass extinction from happening to the insects, Noah would have to fit trillions of species of insects on his boat to keep them from dying. Also, he would have to fit trillions of species of plants and yes animals, we are talking from polar bears, to every specie of bird.

It is totally absurd, it did not happen.

So now I ask you, what is wrong with saying, God did not write the bible, men wrote the bible. Perhaps all religion is, it is a study of who or what God is, and maybe when enough time goes by the human race will figure it out? With poetry, philosophy, Theology, and science, we just might figure it out.

To me, I believe that which made all of life on Earth was the natural process of Evolution. So if you define God to be all that made life on the Earth, then yes I believe in God, because that is evolution.

Keep searching, the answers are out there.

Don't bother, Vene. I'll sum it up for you.

Molal: "Define "kind"."
AV1611VET: "
A 'kind', IMO, is an animal at the top of its taxon, containing maximum alleles."
Frumious Bandersnatch: "
Maximum alleles? What does that mean?"
AV1611VET: "Beats me."
Frumious Bandersnatch:
"Do you even know what alleles are?"
AV1611VET:
"I absolutely do not - (for about the fifth time)."
Frumious Bandersnatch: "Which taxon would the animal be at the top of?"
AV1611VET: "I haven't a clue."

Not on your life --- when your idle, unhelpful speculation leads to the conclusion that the Flood didn't happen --- that's where I come in.

There were no polar bears in existence at the time.

The earth - one big massive continent [today] called Pangaea - was one tropical paradise.

Why do you have to come in? Outside of the Bible there is no evidence of a world wide flood. In fact the evidence goes against it and it has been shown time and time again.

Should we believe the map or the terrain?

That's dishonest, Outsider --- while I still believe that --- I started a much better thread after I learned that animals only contain a maximum of two alleles.

I took it to the Lord that night in prayer and told Him I need a better definition.

Thus my thread.

MrGoodBytes has preserved that secondary definition in his sig --- and it's just confusing you guys --- not me.

You are the second one to bring this up.

Okay... admittedly I was in university back in the early 90s and scientific knowledge has improved since then, but I was taught at the time that there were an estimated 30 million species on earth. Not trillions.

Still can't fit them all on an ark, Just sayin' :)

Congrats on finding new ways to say 'Goddidit' and 'The Bible trumps all' without saying that.

Though why you would point to a thread where you are trumped again with the evidence?
