  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

One of the members later became a solo Christian artist.

That's right - Kerry Livgren, guitarist and main songwriter became a Christian (along with bass player Dave Hope) in the late 70s. The albums that followed his conversion (Audio Visions, Vinyl Confessions and Drastic Measures). Vinyl Confessions also saw John Elefante (who would later have a lot of success producing Christian rock bands together with his brother Dino) take over the vocal duties.

Livgren went on to have a solo career, releasing albums either under his name or as part of the band AD. He was the primary (possibly even the only) songwriter for AD, so I don't know how much difference there is stylistically between the AD albums and the Kerry Livgren albums.

Most recently Livgren has been working with the band Proto-Kaw, which is made up of musicians who were members of Kansas in the early days (before they actually released anything).

Point of Know Return was one of the first few albums I bought when I started buying musice. Kansas (along with ELO) were pretty groundbreaking--mixing rock with classical. They were a great live band too, I was fortunate to see them on the Point of Know Return tour.

Guitar Hero II is about the biggest waste of time ever but there are some great old songs on it that some kids would never hear otherwise.
