  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Guess who is sitting next to Jesus?

large.jpg

YOU!!!

Can't you see yourself sitting here?

The red cloak that Jesus is holding represents your sins that Jesus has removed from you. Now you sit beside Him clothed in the purity of His love. Look at the joy on the face of the Bride?

"Whenever anyone sighs toward Me with love in meditation on My Passion it is as though he has gently touched My wounds with a fresh budding rose and I wound his heart in return with the Arrow of My love. If he shed stears over My Passion, I will accept them as though he suffered for Me." ~ Our Lord to Saint Mechtilde

Here is another beautiful picture of the Bride. She is looking into a pool of water and seeing her true beauty reflected there. The calm placid waters here represent Jesus. It is when we look at Him that we see our true reflection. He also tells us to come and drink of Him and we shall be satisfied.

"What we have seen, what we have touched, what we have gazed upon we our eyes concerning the Word of Life. Him we declare to you." -John the Beloved

"Lord to whom shall we go? You alone have the words of eternal Life?" - Peter the Apostle

The Bride hangs on ever word of Jesus and watches His every movement. What is He saying? Where is He going? I want to follow!

Amen, dear sister Amy. The intensity with which the disciples are listening to Jesus in this picture is very inspiring! They are indeed watching His every movement and latching onto His every word. I really appreciate how you brought out that this is the attitude of the Bride. I too want to follow Him in this way!

O dear Lord Jesus, You alone have the words of eternal life. Draw us away from all that would distract us and keep us always at your feet, beholding Your countenance and listening to Your words of grace. Cause us to be always leaning on You, so that we would never cease following You. O Beloved One, do make us the Bride Your heart longs for. May it always be that our only satisfaction is in You.

This reminds me of a sentence from Revelation 14:4, "These are the ones who follow the Lamb wherever He goes."

Thank you for the wonderful verses as well.

Dear sister Amylisa - It is so good to hear from you again!

Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests but I the Son of Man have not place to lay My head.

Have you ever seen the movie, "The Pianist"? The story is set during WW11 during the Nazi occupation in Poland. After having escaped being catured by the Nazis many times the Pianist is desperate to find food, shelter and a place of rest. In a certain point in the story he comes face to face with a German soldier who could either kill him or help him. Well I won't give away what happens.

I share this because Jesus Himself encounters this same struggle. He is searching through out the world for those who will welcome Him, shelter and comfort Him. He meets resistance, doesn't He? The Bride however understands that when the Bridegroom said, "I thirst" this wasn't meant for only when He hung on the cross but His words also echo in the Heart of the Bride. Jesus is thirsty! He longs for a drink that only the Bride can give Him/

Jesus, like the Pianist, stands at the door.

How do we give Jesus a drinK? Where is the place He desires to rest? How do we shelter Jesus?

The Princess Bride...

That's you! When the Lord returns to set up His Kingdom on earth you will be called to ride along side of your Prince, Jesus! Set your affections on things above and not on things below for your life is hidden with Christ in God. Recognize who you really are: strong, beautiful, pure, a lover of the truth and most of all the beloved of Jesus. Already your Prince is calling you to ride with Him. So ride on with Him to rescue many souls and overcome the strong holds of the evil one! You are the companion, the rider at His side victorious Bride!

Dear sister Amy,

Your post is so wonderful! Your words are incredibly encouraging!

Set your affections on things above and not on things below for your life is hidden with Christ in God.

Amen! :amen: Yes, our true life really is hidden with Christ in God. What a marvelous place to be hidden - in the very depths of God! And what a marvelous One to be hidden with - our beloved Christ Jesus!

Recognize who you really are: strong, beautiful, pure, a lover of the truth and most of all the beloved of Jesus.

Amen! :amen: Thank you, dear sister, for reminding us of who we really are in Him! May His beauty so attract us that we turn from our natural selves and see only Him, and who we really are in Him! What we are in our natural self is not who we will be eternally, it is not who we are really are in Him.
He is working deep within us to transform us into His absolutely beautiful, radiant, awesome, image! This is a deep and mysterious work - He is transforming us more and more into that which we already are in Him! This is a work that will last for all eternity and we will shine forth to His glory forever and ever! Praise Him!

How do we give Jesus a drinK? Where is the place He desires to rest? How do we shelter Jesus?

Dear sister Amy,

These are really excellent questions! I certainly do not have any definitive answers, but I do have some impressions from the Lord to share. I hope some others will share as well, as I am definitely a learner in these matters!

How do we give Jesus a drink? I can not help but think of the sweet and touching story of Jesus talking to the Samaritan woman at the well in John chapter 4. Jesus was weary from His journey and must have been thristy, since he asked the woman to give Him a drink. It appears that she never gave Him a physical drink, but surely her lingering with Him and listening to His words were a real drink, a real inner refreshment, to Him! She even left behind her waterpot and went into the city to tell everyone about Him! Surely when we leave behind the things that have preoccupied and distracted us and focus on Him and His work, this gives Him another big drink!

Where is the place that He desires to rest? It must be in the hearts of those who continually turn to Him in faith, those who allow Him to be everything to them because of their love for Him. May He be the faith and love in us so that our hearts can become more and more His resting place, His home. How He longs to make His home in our hearts through faith when we are rooted and grounded in love! (Ephesians 3:17)

How do we shelter Jesus? I really need some help on this one! My only thought here is that we shelter Him when we continue to love Him in the midst of trials and tribulations, especially when go throught the trial of suffering ridicule and persecution for His sake. When we are bearing shame for His precious, lovely, Name, and we remain close and intimate with Him and do not forsake Him, we become a target for His enemies; and, in a sense, we suffer the reproach from His enemies that would normally fall directly upon Him. Joyfully, we willingly bear reproach for Him so that it will not fall directly upon Him. Surely our sheltering Him in this way is so precious to Him, as He indicated over and over that there is a very rich reward laid up in Heaven for all those who live in such a way! (Mattthew 5:11-12, etc.)
