• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I am concerned about this poll...

I found this poll in the Traditional sub-forum, and am concerned about the wording of it.

4. Traditional Seventh-day Adventist Fellowship Sub-forum

4.1 This sub-forum is mainly for fellowship and discussion amongst Traditional Seventh-day Adventists, defined here as those who agree with all 28 Fundamental Beliefs.

4.2 Non Seventh-day Adventists and other Seventh-day Adventists, who do not identify themselves as Traditional Seventh-day Adventists, may ask questions on issues relevant to Traditional Adventists.
4.3 Debate in this forum on any topic is limited to those who identify themselves as Traditional Seventh-day Adventists.

4.4 Teaching in this forum on any topic is limited to those who identify themselves as Traditional Seventh-day Adventists.

4.5 Topics and posts that speak against any of the 28 Fundamental Beliefs of the SDA Church are not permitted in this sub-forum.

4.6 Sarcasm against another person here is unacceptable.
Now, it is agreed on by Traditional members of this forum that one must agree with all of the 28 doctrines of the SDA church in order to be a Traditional.

What this then means is that if a split takes place between Progressive and Traditional forum members, and the rules for the Traditional forum will be like they are in the quote above, where then does that leave those who do not identify themselves as either Progressive or Traditional under such standards, as it were?

I want to know from the Traditional forum members if this is the way it is going to be if a split takes place.

What I have underlined is what I am most concerned about.

You see, I don't agree with the standard of identity here because it makes it appear as though the Traditional group has nothing else to learn, that they have arrived, and every little detail of the 28 doctrines is flawless. I am a firm believer that what separates us is our approach to the Bible, not whether we agree with every little detail of the 28 doctrines. I believe that one could disagree with some aspect of the 28 doctrines and still be Traditional.

Until I get some straight answers I am removing my vote from the poll for a split.

LOL Wooba now you are worried if the split happens, you won't have a home!

That's ok. We will take you in. Just know this: everything you say will be closely watched. :D

Don't worry I don't think anyone should get a say who stays who goes even if the split happens. People should make that decision themselves. But I'm for stricter flaming rules and the inforcement.

I just want to be fair about this. I think there ought to be another way to determine who is or isn't a Traditional, because the current way of doing that really doesn't make any logical sense, unless all Traditionals believe that there is no room for growth in, or improvement of what they believe concerning the 28 doctrines.

Now you see what I was warning you about, you may be the next one seen as a 'heretic' by those blinded in their striving to 'help clear' the forum of 'unbelievers' and then where will you be..........

Seeing you are the creator of the POLL, I suggest you cancel the POLL until this is resolved. After that, if you desire, a new one can be started.

This POLL in the Traditional sub-forum was up and running for the required four days and has closed with all the rules passing and edited into the wiki.

Actually, I don't need to close the poll. If you haven't noticed, in the OP I stated that my vote will not count until this issue is resolved.

I really cannot believe this.

Woob, that poll was up for 4 days and you're just NOW noticing it?

If you cancel your vote, the split could still go through. not everyone has voted yet.

I don't care either way.

I'm serious, I just do not care anymore.

But I will say this.....you promised me originally that we'd have stricter rules against flaming if we DIDN'T split, so I FULLY expect you to make sure that's exactly what you help work on in the wiki.

No ifs ands or buts.

First we have to ask whether rules for a sub-sub-forum are applicable to a new sub-forum?

That poll may mean nothing at all.

Likely both "new" sub-forums would have to start their wiki process all over again.

But what is clear is that people are voting to split without even realizing who will go where when the split happens as there is no standard.

Perhaps it is time to rethink the split=panacea theory. It seems the progressives are not the only strain on traditional happiness.

Heart change, not segregation, is what we need.

Hardy har har. Low blow.

Fickled people drive me crazy, I don't care who they are.

I so totally agree with this that I cannot type enough exclamation points!!!! I won't try to top honor's record though. :)

I really don't have time for this anyway.

Good luck guys. I hope it works out to everyone's benefit and that this forum finally sees some peace.

If the split goes through, I already know the Traditionals want to start the wiki process again.

Mostly just to incorporate the rules we've already voted on to be worded for a whole forum instead of a subfora.

If this is the case, and it is going to be like the poll that is posted in your forum, that you have basically excluded me from, then you don't have my vote for a split, and the poll is going to be closed. As I don't see that you guys are being fair. I feel like I've been used.:sigh:
