I've met alot of great christian brothers and sisters on MySpace so I'm not sure why you want to put them down.
 This probably isn't the place to discuss it, but to clarify quickly. MySpace is cool, but it's not a Christian environment, and this will continue to be one. When people hear "Social Network", the automatic mental link is MySpace, and it's important to differentiate between the two on the packaging, if only for honesty's sake.

Okay, you guys, I just went through 20 pages in the other thread to compile this. If you have an idea, please copy it to the list, and republish, so that it stays at the top.

Also, this thread will be open until Friday at 5pm EST. Then, I will PM the list to Erwin. He can choose the top 10 and then we will vote.

Thanks,

 Thanks, but you didn't have to go through it all. As per our PM discussion, I've already done that. It's on the first page of the thread.

ETA: I will compare your list and mine and make sure the one in Post #8 is complete.

While I was compiling that list, I had a note in red at the top telling people it was in progress, as I was going through the other thread. Things got added in chunks, as I told you before. I have done my best to make it complete, however. I'm a little confused (and a tiny bit hurt) as to why you felt you needed to repeat my efforts -- was I in error in some way?

Ok, cool, but as you see, I'm not the only Christian here who has no problem with the term as it has been suggested by several others, including the webmaster himself, to use the term in some way. I agree that this will stay mainly a christian enviroment but if you are going to welcome all others to join in you have to make them feel welcome. And it is important, for honesty's sake, that if you are going to welcome non-christians to this site you shouldn't shove christianity down their throats right off the bat.

Whatever the slogan is it should convey our welcome to all others in the community of man as well as letting them know that this is mainly a Christian website/forum and I think adding "Christian based social networking" accomplishes that. It may not be the only way though.

I love your idea of adding that John 15:15 verse but if you just keep it at that all you are doing is welcoming other christians to this site and in a way could end up telling non-christians that they are not welcome.

What is the new vision of this website mainly saying? Outreach or christian fellowship?

 :D Do you know, I feel the exact opposite? :D Not about shoving, cos, there should be no shoving, but we mustn't forget that many people joined when it was overtly a Christian site. Luring people in with MySpace-esque-y goodness then hitting them with the Christianity just feels a little underhanded, somehow? Also, Erwin sees it that people will join primarily by invitation, so people will know what it is, anyway, probably?

What is the new vision of this website mainly saying? Outreach or christian fellowship?
But... can/should it not be both?

In the same vein ECHELON does it, I would have this and then add the John 15:15 verse underneither it!

Perhaps have one of the graphics with the world and the children with locked hands making a ring around the world, on top have written; "Foru.ms *Where strangers, sojourners, and citizens gather...*

And then on the bottom have the john 15:15 verse;
"For He Has Called Us Friends" (John 15:15)"

I've changed my mind, I'm going with this!

I just compared our lists. I had all the ones you listed, plus a couple. You must have looked at the list while it was still in progress. I did give joint credit to a couple more based on your list, though.

The only problem I have with John 15:15 is that it is taken out of context. I know that doesn't seem like such a big deal, but if read in context the meaning behind what Jesus is saying is different than the purpose it would be used for in a slogan. Not only that, but he is directing this comment to His disciples (and thus all believers), and it is not being directed to unbelievers.

John 15:13-15
"Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. You are My friends if you do whatever I command you. No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you."

I think using a verse is a great idea, but I think there are probably other verses that can be used that don't have to be taken out of context. Here is one that I thought of:

John 1:4
"In Him was life, and the life was the light of men."

This one could go along with the Bridges of Light slogan.
