  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

For those who have been wondering where I've been...

Instead of sending me nasty pm's about not taking care of my own pet, I would appreciate a pm asking why I was away for a few days. If any of you would care to know, I've had a family member take sick and need emergency surgery---so I've been dealing with that stress as best as I can.

I wouldn't just leave my pet to die here unless there was some type of emergency--- sorry but family comes first.

Here is the pm OrchidAngel is talking about.

pet worker's pet

This is unacceptable as a pet worker and the pet is your and that makes it even worse. This is good cause for dismissal from being a pet worker. This is the last warning you will get. You have had several warning in the most recent pass, Maybe it is time you give some serious consideration to stepping down on your own without being asked. I can't continue to check on you and take care of your pets. A copy of this is being sent to your leader also.

In my defense one day passed where I could not feed my pets---it was an emergency having to do with my family member. If that can't be excused, then I'm sorry. I'm here to help, I'm here to give all my blessings to this ministry if need be---I already went over the 1000 that were donated to me but I won't ask for anymore. I am doing the best I can and I don't think that me missing yesterday should be held against me.

I don't want to start any arguments about this with any one, but I don't need to be scolded about taking care of pets when my family member was seriously ill and could have died at any moment.

sorry to hear about your family member  hope he or she is better again...will be praying :prayer:

I know that as petWorkers were supposed to check on the pets and to inform our Team leaders if we are away for a while...but in emergencies we really shouldn't tell people of for not checking on the pets

I don't know about what warnings you might have got in the past or whatever and I think that you received that pm cause of that and that it might have been different had they know what was going on in your real life...

...and an idea: maybe we should have someone to take care of pets in emergencies like that and checking on lists of people who are away....it's easy to just check the profiles of people to see when they were last online and when it's more than a certain ammount of time to just check on their lists

be blessed <><

I was under the impression that we were here to help the pets, and not judge other peoples' actions, or lack thereof... I'm happy to take care of other peoples' pets, even if it may look bad if they're on Pet Staff and their pet's hunger is way up...

I hope I'm not sounding rude, but I just think that a forgiving attitude would help out a lot in situations where we don't have control over what's going on ... :o

me too  since I don't have a list of my own anyway.....guess having more than one person - maybe one per team would be better anyway....

without being able to forgive others this job here soon becomes frustrating :sigh: way back I had the pets of a few petWorkers on my list...whenever those got hungry I was glad to feed them AND checked on their lists as well just to make sure everything's alright  that's the way we should do that and not be angry with others....we are ONE family with ONE purpose here...and we need to help and encourage each other....

Thanks for the support everyone :) I didn't mean to cause a ruckus because of this---I'm not mad at anybody. Just stressed out. Today, they found more issues with my relative and so he had mini surgery today---in 6 weeks he has to have surgery again. So if I'm not around, it's because I'm just too busy with family.

I love working with animals--even virtual ones---I had the great joy today of giving my cat a bath and getting soaked, then holding her and telling her its for her own good (to help with the fleas). So I guess I'm going to have to go change clothes now---she's adorable trying to lick herself clean right now lol.

Awh Im sorry to hear about your family member. I will pray for him that he has a speedy recovery. I know the feeling and I understand cos my Mum has been sick a lot lately and I myself have been off sick for the last 4 days and haven't got a chance to come online to tell any1 so I know what its like to be sick or to have a family member sick and not to get to feed the pets.

Lol Im sure your cat didn't appreciate the bath ^_^ ! I love cats too. I have a dog and a cat myself. I also love horses, rabbits and goldfish but am not allowed get any! :(

I will keep you and your family member in my prayers and I hope things work themselves out for you.

God bless u,
Lorna

Having one person for each list is a good idea. But when I check my list and see where a reg worker's pets seem hungry, I make a note of it and go back later and check, if nec. feed them. But do think this would be good to put into place.

Thank you all for the love and prayers----it's been very sweet. Family is still very worried about what can happen, but we're leaving it up to the Lord. I'll update when I find anything out. Thanks again!!

My cat got extra treats yesterday---even a piece of steak for dinner, so she was fully rewarded for not clawing me to death while giving her a bath. She was very good---I'd get more clawed up when she was a little kitten than yesterday.

So she seems to be scratching alot less---I also brushed her coat out and got tons of hair out of her so that probably feels alot nicer too.

B.I.---try a medication that you put on their back. I find it works alot better than just flea baths. My cat does spend a few hours every morning outside, getting exercise and spending time with her brother who lives outside and the other cats around here.

If they keep getting them it could be that you have them in your rugs (which you'll need to get a carpet cleaner and clean them up) or it could just be the eggs that the fleas have laid---they can be a pain to really get out of the fur. Try going to a pet store where you can get the medication---like Front Line---and that should help things :)
