Religious intolerance :(

I have just come here and found a thread about Rastafari, once I start to explain the truth about what and how it goes etc, they have now closed the thread.

It was alright before when those writing on it could say what they like and be absolutely wrong, but from when I came on the board and started to clarify how things are they first, deleted my post and now have closed the thread stating this forum is not the place to discuss Rastafari. Oh yeah but its ok to talk about the muslim the jew the hindu or the Jedi.

But you are not aloud to speak or they cut you of..

Whats the point!

guess what i heard. one of the mods informed me that our pms were public knowledge due to a new rule change or something. i don't know if this was suppose to b a threat or something but in response i said "Wow that's great!" You had posted it in the Non-Christian Religion area, and because it's about the Pope of the Catholic Church, that makes it both a flame and off topic.

Because it appears that you wish to debate the position of the Catholic Church and/or the Pope's importance, I would suggest that in the future, you post these things in the General Apologetics forum which you will find in the Debate Area. However I would also ask that you please try to be mindful of the No Flaming rule.

I'll post a copy of the No Flaming Rule as it is currently written.

2.1 No Flaming

Members should not insult another member with a personal attack. Such behavior would include personally defamatory comments or inflammatory accusations, even if they are believed to be true. Categorically stating that somebody is destined for hell is also considered to be flaming.

people understand i posted this pm to make others consciously aware of the situation in this forum. hoping that if we take a stand then maybe some things will change for the better. however i DID NOT do this to start a flaming war, or to trade insults back in forth. but there is no way i should b held responsible for someone else's actions or penalized while the guilty party continues to get away scott free. so that's y i'm posting this pm for others to see. ty.

I'm faintly disturbed at how intolerant *certain* Christians (and other faiths, but this is a Christian board, so that's my focus) are towards other beliefs. At least agnostics have the honesty to say, "I don't really know."

Why would religious faiths be intolerant to other religious faiths that promote the same goodness? If it is good, then it should be indeed tolerated. Those who do otherwise have ignorance which is my only conclusion.

here goes another pm that might interest ppl. this is one from the closing mod.

well she stated that specifically in the thread. she said i'm calling u a bigot and i'm flaming so they could get rid of me. she was trying to get it shut down. and my understanding of it being a non-christian thread is that u can speak on issues that disagree wit the mainstream concepts of Chirstianity. in the chrisitan forum u have to accept the written doctrine here u do not. that was my understanding and it was also stated in the rules. maybe that's changed.

yes i know. bc of snowbunny. i did report her but my thread got shut down anyways. she was the only one flaming that's y i asked. she said she purposely did that in order to get it shut down. but i had done nothing, intentionally, to provoke her. this is a non-Christan religion forum. so my topic fit the discussion. i guess she had a personal problem with that. however, i did not take it personally and i successfully kept the situation from escalating. so i don't see y u felt the need to shut down my thread. i was trying to figure this out. is there anybody i could appeal to?

The shutting down of a thread while it's being reviewed or cleaned up is not appealiable. Also..your topic was about Catholics..non a non-Christian religion. I'm sure if you go to the Catholic area you'll see the same.
Also, if the thread is reopened after all the flames are cleaned, it will be moved to the Catholic area, and the main post will also have to be edited due to the Copywrite Rules.
If you have a post or PM from snowbunny stating thats what she did please report it.
I can't tell you anything else at this point until the team has decided what to do..and I just walked in, so I haven't even been there yet.

I'll be the first to admit that I do not agree with Snowbunny's theological views at all. However, one CAN separate theology from friendship, and she and I have done so. She's a kind-hearted and wonderful person whom I happen to disagree with (sometimes vehemently) on a theological level. I really wish you'd try to separate her beliefs from her personality here.

I also think it's kind of rude to copy and post private messages in threads without the other party's permission.

Okay, now I'm REALLY confused. Why has a legitimate thread been turned into a thread in which to bash other members?

If someone is harassing you, it's better PM the moderators and report the person instead of harrassing him or her back.
