• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

One of the reasons why I really despise what Creationists do (beyond ignoring facts and evidence and lying for the lord) is their strongarm tactics to quiet all opposition. They claim that both sides of the argument should be talked about or complain about secular agendas when Evolution is discussed but have no problem with their own agendas of pushing their ideas.

One good example is the forum that I had linked to here a while ago at http://tinyurl.com/2eoj4j (it won't let me post the real URL without messing it up so that'll have to do). I was strong armed out by being negatively repped and the last comment about where I was was responded by the following:

I'm still able to post there apparently, though I don't have any real inclination to. I notice Zorro never replied to my dismantleing of his claims or that the Zoologist ever responded to my partial critique of his posts.

I honestly don't think that 'zoologist' was one. I don't blame you for not having an inclination to, there's much more to talk about here and there isn't much opposition to facts.

I honestly don't think that 'zoologist' was one.

Whether he was or not, he certainly didn't have much staying power other than quote mining and appeals to authority. It's pretty sad when a security guard with a BA in History seems to know more about recent research on a subject than someone who supposedly majored in.

I don't blame you for not having an inclination to, there's much more to talk about here and there isn't much opposition to facts.

I wish I hadn't come so late to the game over there after so many were burned out. Maybe there were some lurkers who actually took the links we posted.

One can hope. :)

That's a community site that doesn't focus mainly on these issues. Your not getting master debaters, your getting people that never even think about evolution or it's impact. Sure, they will discuss it, but I wouldn't say they are prepared to. It's not their life. They care more about the price of gas and the health of their grandmother than a some evolution theory. And that's the way it should be.

Wow... and they just showed how natural selection works to boot.
I know, I was kinda laughing about that. They have set up the selection pressure that any poster that questions biblical literalism will be selected against by way of bans. From this they have seen a marked rise post counts (allele frequency) for those that support their selection pressure unquestioningly and a decline in the post counts or outright bans for those that do not.

Natural selection and evolution in a population if I ever saw it.
