I don't post there because I just get my head bitten off and insults.
Every now and then, I forget and venture in,
but it doesn't take long for the insults to start.
It's not worth it, to me anyway.
Apparently, some of the other creationists are taking a break from the barrage.
I'm with you THERE, brother!I am realizing how much more satisfying worship is than argument.
I feel the same as you. Also, just as soon as a thread gets down to some real meat, it is so far down on the string that it's hard for me to find my own posts to follow up on.I do on occasion. I have posted more in the past - but too many times it feels like its me versus 5-10 other people, and there's no real way for me to respond to all of them properly. There's also several who have rejected what I am saying without any support or evidence -- for example, they have tried to get me to interpret things simplistically, especially in terms of flood modeling. I'm tired of it, and work is real busy right now, so I'm throttling back quite a bit.

I didn't know we had worship ministry in common!
That is my foremost calling in life (besides being a mother).

I'm sure the others don't bother to expand those threads, and so the best points go unnoticed. I hate it when they just post an answer in a new thread without linking it to the one they're responding to.
There should be a way to expand the whole tree of comments so you can see them all branched out, and do it without flipping back up to the top so you don't loose your place.
I also wonder why the TE crowd spend so much energy trying to defeat the creationist theology, when we are actually trying to stay true to the Bible.
One good reason not to engage too much and "avoid" that crowd is this:
ESV 1 Timothy 6:20 O Timothy, guard the deposit entrusted to you. Avoid the irreverent babble and contradictions of what is falsely called "knowledge,"
I don't want to get evicted from the thread for being off-topic, so I will PM you.Perhaps to put it a little less sanctimoniously, I have had the wrong balance of the two issues. I need more worship and less apologetics.
What do you do in your worship?
At Church, we kind of push Maranatha stuff and hymns.
Privately, we mostly play Darrell Evans, David Crowder, Rita Springer, Hillsong, Vineyard.
I try to limit my postings to topics that really interest me, but I've long since lost the desire to post more regularly. I come primarily to see the arguments being made and the positions held.Or is it just me? Just seems awful quiet in there.
lol, yeah I'm familiar with that too.I don't post there because I just get my head bitten off and insults.
I haven't felt it for quite some time, yet like the dumb sheep that I am I'm still foolish enough to venture in.Taking a break - I'm not feeling it no more.
Boy can I relate to that.I do on occasion. I have posted more in the past - but too many times it feels like its me versus 5-10 other people, and there's no real way for me to respond to all of them properly.
Now that's a powerful Scripture most of us would do well to heed. Thanks! One good reason not to engage too much and "avoid" that crowd is this:
ESV 1 Timothy 6:20 O Timothy, guard the deposit entrusted to you. Avoid the irreverent babble and contradictions of what is falsely called "knowledge,"
The object of the avoidance is when people are declaring something to be "knowledge" or "science" and yet it's really a fallacy; it's full of contradictions (especially with Scripture) and does not compare itself to Scripture. That is a challenging Word, brother. "Avoid" suggests we not even bother with the apologetics. I have to say, I am not impressed with the fruit born of doing it otherwise, excep that I think I learn a lot myself.
But, when it turns into "irreverent" (disrespectful - exhibiting lack of respect; rude and discourteous) babble, then it's time to turn away and cut your losses.
You know, I'm just about done hearing this from you. I don't care if you don't like calling yourself a literalist. In fact, I don't think any of us care. We're not necessarily directing our arguments at you. There are dozens of creationists that we've encountered here over the years that describe themselves as literalists. We're using the label they've provided us, and it just so happens that it's also pretty accurate. So stop calling it a straw-man argument. We didn't build it. If you think it's a straw-man, get together with your fellow creationists and come up with a united front to put forward.
Lord knows you guys could use one.
and then I had the GALL to ask how it has been proven a fallacy and I got:And despite the fact that you're too busy being amazed by the world around you to study it in any sort of critical fashion, it remains a fallacy.
Just because something appears so intricate that you, personally, can't fathom it not being designed doesn't mean that it is.

You don't need to avoid conversations (even with non-believers) when trying to reach them. But, when it turns into "irreverent" (disrespectful - exhibiting lack of respect; rude and discourteous) babble, then it's time to turn away and cut your losses.
I too am tired of the bickering. I used to spend alot of time on strange threads arguing the fundamenalist view piont, and I learned alot. But satan has been causing division in my church and friends and family, and I come here for a healthy escape into biblical discussion.
I find them crowing about the same things they were crowing about a year ago.FUnny thing about division is you can look up all the doctrines that divide in the Bible and you will find a few (Christ came in the flesh, Christ is risen, etc.) but very few. THough, you will find "division" as something condemned.
That's the nice thing about this forum. Not as challenging. But no static.
AMENI find them crowing about the same things they were crowing about a year ago.
We don't change their minds,
and they don't change ours.
In the end, they are further emboldened.
I think we out to use this forum for the same purpose,
to embolden ourselves and encourage ourselves
in what we believe to be the truth.
