  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hello,

I am fairly neew christian I hope, baptized and all. I am one of those people that just doesn't dare to talk and never knows how.I feel dumb talking even to my own family. Jesus said if you don't confess me before men I won't confess you before my father. Am I suppose to run around saying Jesus this and that every second or what. I just don't dare to talk about the things of God and the bible to others. I have a few times, but I'm just not the type to start conversation. I've tried to several times and have gone out to try and witness, but I just can't do it. Am I not really a christain, am I not going to be saved, will Jesus say depart from me. How do any of you confess Christ before others. I don't know what I'm doing. Thank you for you time and concern. God bless,

Hi there. The Bible says that we are supposed to be Salt and Light unto the world. We provide the most effective witness in the way that we live and treat others. Jesus won't abandon you for not screaming His name, but he should be given credit when good things happen.

St Francis of Assissi said "Witness at all times. If necessary use words."
The way you live, the way you react to others, is the greatest way you can witness for Christ. If others see the change in you, they will ask about it - then you can tell them!

I will completely agree with the previous posts. Living for God is, in my opinion, the best way to share the love of Christ. Loving people will gain you notice and eventually, onlooker interest. I gauruntee, that if you just love and help others, someone will ask you about it. I hope you find the way that works for you, and that your relationship with our Lord continues to grow.

God bless

You already confessed Christ when you were baptized. Baptism itself is a public declaration of your faith. However, since we are not saved by works but by faith, (Ephesians 2:8-9) don't worry about it. Jesus died for your sins, and rose again so you might have eternal life. Believe on Him, and you're good to go. Jesus is not going to reject you since you are His now:

"I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life." - John 5:24

"I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father's hand." - John 10:28-29

"For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord." - Romans 8:38-39

The verse you are talking about refers to people who denied being Christians when pressed. If someone asks if you are a Christian, just say "yes." However, Jesus sought out Peter and restored him, even after Peter denied Him three times! (John 21:15-19) The Lord's love reaches further than I think you would care to go.

If you are 'wholly of love' you are blessing His name - do not worry about finding things to say - the Lord will provide when the need arises.

Every blessing

Each person is different. Some have been blessed with the gift of being able to witness boldly while some of us haven't. While we sould all try to grow in faith and love of The Lord and in the ability to effectivly witness, what is really important is that we serve Him with what ever gifts He has given us.

I like the follwoing scripture that shows not everyone is given the same gifts, but all eagerly encouraged to use the gifts they have been blessed with.

1Co 12:1 Now about spiritual gifts, brothers, I do not want you to be ignorant.
1Co 12:2 You know that when you were pagans, somehow or other you were influenced and led astray to mute idols.
1Co 12:3 Therefore I tell you that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, "Jesus be cursed," and no one can say, "Jesus is Lord," except by the Holy Spirit.
1Co 12:4 There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit.
1Co 12:5 There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord.
1Co 12:6 There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men.
1Co 12:7 Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.
1Co 12:8 To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to another the message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit,
1Co 12:9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit,
1Co 12:10 to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues.
1Co 12:11 All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he gives them to each one, just as he determines.

The verses following this also are very important, please look them up.

Does your church service have a confession of faith and of sins during its service? My church has this in every service, as well as the Pastor pronouncing that Jesus has paid for our sins and we are forgiven because of His innocent blood and righteousness. The Apostles creed and the Nicene Creed are just two examples of confessions.

Look, you're a new Christian. Keep working at it and you'll discover there're people out there that just need to hear you say it and it'll mean something to them.

By the same token you may need some good examples of people who do confess Christ before men, before you find what this really means.

It doesn't always mean that you're looking for another evangelistic notch in your gospel gun. You don't need to be convincing. What you need to be is honest and clear about it.

One easy way to do this is to say it without trying to make a claim on someone else's life. Register your position as your position -- let the Spirit of the Lord God be the authority, and you be the footsoldier.

The way I often do it is, "Well, I'm a Christian, and to me ..." and what I think.

But you may find the Spirit is telling you to be quiet in many cases. You're a new Christian. It's not for you to go jumping down everyone's throat with it. Just beam like a new Christian and when people say something cynical, "Well, I'm a Christian and that's plenty for me to be happy right now."

Pray in your mind to God. Then Smile. Make 'em wonder what you're up to! :holy:
