For me i grew to love photography since last year when i started to love design. As webmaster, i picked up photoshop skills and grew more interested in image composition so that banners can be made attractive. Then last october, i had a chance to visit Korea. I didn't have a good camera so i borrowed a Panasonic Lumix FX9 which had 6mp. I took lots of autumn photos and when i got back, i expected to see beautiful shots that i took but i was disappointed as the pictures didn't turn out the way i wanted them. I then thought the camera was not good enough especially when it didn't have a wide angle lens.
Since then, i decided to get a DSLR to have a fighting chance of getting good shots..lol. I went to the library to borrow photography magazines and started reading up about the theories of taking good pictures and getting familiar with some of the photography jargon that was in there. I finally laid my hands on my first DSLR last month when i got an Olympus E500. Beautiful budget cam with the 2 kit lens. I had wanted a D80 but it was a few hundred more expensive. So i've had this cam for 3 weeks already and i've taken about 600 shots or so. Most of the time i take indoors and i hate using flash because 1) it wastes battery, 2) it can make the subjects too bright, and 3) it brings all the attention to you. Just yesterday i was trigger happy at a friend's place where i took almost a hundred shots. And i know the more shots i take, the more i learn and the faster i can come to taking great pictures.
Below is a shot i took from my flat at night. I took it during the first week i had the cam.
And here is a macro shot of a sheep magnet as i experimented with depth of field.
I still haven't decided on what kind of photography i want to focus on yet so i'll just keep shooting. Probably next week i'll be going out and shooting Singapore landscapes.
