I would hope you'd pick a better question than the one I mentioned, very tongue in cheek, BTW, in keeping with the Python theme.
The Romans were amazingly efficient and proficient civil organizers and developers. Of course, the fact that they carried forward the original ideas of the Egyptians and Greeks and that all actual work was done by disposable slaves could be a sticky wicket for any rebuttal....not that I'm encouraging you.

See now slavery is always a good one to go after 'em for, but even the good old U.S.A. used slaves to build a country so that one won't work.
