• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I said you wouldn't point it out, guaranteed. You did not, proving my point. Unfortunately, many of my left leaning friends make arguments based on what they assumed was said rather than on what was actually said. This would appear to me another incidence of such.
No, you said "You won't show me because you can't", that says I am unable to show which isn't true, the truth is I'm unwilling to show you. I think you've proven plenty.

The truth is you CAN'T because you would have to show something that isn't there. End of story

Out of curiosity, if you did not enlist, how did you serve?
Think about it.

Isn't the current enlistment age 41 or 42?
Once you answer your first question, you'll realize why your second is irrelevant.

I will assume no answer will be forthcoming before the secondcoming.
The discussion is about military service

I served in the 101st Airborne. As I said, I earned my right to speak on military issues.

No it wouldn't. Not everyone is eligible to enlist

Yes, but we are talking about someone who was once enlisted already, so reenlistment options would be the term.

Who would that someone be?

It's in the thread, go back and read it.

If it's there, show me. You won't show me because you can't. Guaranteed.

Nice try, but it's already in the thread, if you don't care to read through it, I can't help you.

Why don't you just tell the guy you were drafted and are too old to enlist?
Finally, my point is proven that you cannot justify your comments because you referred to something that does not exist in the thread

Maybe, but you still can't come out and say "I was drafted" and/or "I am too old to enlist now". Wonder why you refuse to do such things. I guess it's because you enjoy the game too much.

It's rather easy for one to prove a point they've created which has nothing to do with a conversation.

I was indeed drafted which means that I am indeed too old to enlist. And I didn't create the point. The point was created by those who made assertioons based on assumptions

Maybe this post will clarify it for you

In other words, Rangel proposed a draft bill not wanting it to pass, but just to make a point. that's playing politics

Should we make the fullest possible committment or should we make whatever committment is necessary. The fullest possible committment would mean that every 18-30 year old would do a stint in the military. That is a massive logistical concern. Would you really propose that?

Proposing a draft bill that he doesn't want to pass is not my idea of making a decision that Bush is afraid to make.

The Ms. Cheney editorial is only a tiny fraction of what the administration and its supporters have been heaping on the extra helpings of the propaganda special for the years since the misbegotten Iraq War was launched: the idea that "The War On Terror" is the war to end all wars, that it will be intergenerational, that will last for years and years and years, and that it will take tremendous sacrifice. Or don't you agree with that? That the administration and it's supporters keep ramping up the fearmongering, beating the war drums, and then tell us to go shopping, and assuring that the richest amongst us will never have to worry about their taxes going up, is such a profound doublespeak and disconnect to those who lives are truly affected; the enlisted men and women of the regular military, the reserves and National Guard!

You do, as I am sure, comprehend that people make assumptions because you rarely answer questions.

No I don't and that certainly isn't the case here
Really? Someone asked why you couldn't reenlist, you said to figure it out, you didn't give a straight answer, in fact you didn't give any answer. Based on this answer, perhaps the concept is beyond your comprehension.

Actually, the conversation started quite some time before that question, for those who followed the discussion
