HD, tEoTF... stop it you two. Back on topic.

*ahem* back on topic heh.

i guess the whole point of my analogy was to show that the same christians who demands that symbols of their religion remain on government property (inferring governmental endorsement) would be up in ARMS if a local, state, or the federal government chose to prominently display a symbol of another faith on government property.

i'm for total governmental neutrality towards religion in all spheres. government has no place in religion, and vice versa. when the two start mixing - dire consequences can result.

I think that it is funny that the OP seems to think that it is an atheist attack on his religion. Most atheists I know are reasonable people. Crosses and so forth are a reflection of the culture of the people at the time whether past or present and should be respected and cherished. Its not like we want to destroy the Nasca lines, similiarly why would we want to take down a cross?
Maxwell511 it's same thing with any group it's always the jerk and loud mouth activist that people seem to remember. Also people tend to be alot more defensive with certain topics such as religion when dealing with people that are from other faiths.

Not all atheists agreed with this, I am sure, but it was an atheist who got this started and he almost won. It was an atheist who got prayer taken out of schools. It is an atheist who is attempting to get The Pledge of Allegience changed. It is an atheist who wants "In God we Trust" taken off our money. It is an atheist who wants the Ten Commandments removed from Government Buildings. So, yes, as a group, it does seem like the Christian culture is being attacked.

Government shouldn't interfere with religion, true, but there is NOTHING in our constitution that says that religion cannot influence government. I can PROVE that if you need me to.

For those following the Mount Soledad cross case in California, the liberals just lost a big one. The cross in San Diego will stay right where it is. After a long struggle of liberal attacks and ballot initatives, the majority finally won.

Why do some Christians feel such a strong need to mark public territory with signs of their religion? It strikes me as an attempt to claim public territory as their own.

Its hard to understand how a cross can offend someone.

What I find hard to understand is how lack of government endorsement of some's faith can offend them so much and threaten them.

God defeats atheist???

Hmmm,

PHILIP K. PAULSON,
Plaintiff-Appellee,
SAN DIEGANS FOR THE MT. SOLEDAD
NATIONAL WAR MEMORIAL,
Appellant,
and
SOCIETY OF SEPARATIONISTS INC., No. 06-55835 Plaintiff, v. ý CV-8D9.-C0.0 N82o0.-GT
CITY OF SAN DIEGO, aka City of
San Diego California,
Defendant,
and
MT. SOLEDAD MEMORIAL
ASSOCIATION, INC.,
Defendant-Appellant.

Apparently the Op thinks that the city of San Diego and the Mt. Soledad mem. assoc., is god.

Interesting.

You'd think a god would have more pressing business to attend to, given the state of the planet. But no, apparently keeping a large American cross on public lands is more important than famine, flood, fire and war.... this god must be an American lawyer.

Careful...By your own words, you will be judged. Do you want an American Lawyer to defend you before God or Jesus?

I agree. If their god can be defeated by the presence or absence of a cross on public property, then that's more than pathetic.

Our God cannot be defeated, but He can be disrespected.

So then you should force everyone, even those who don't believe in your god, to respect him?

No, we do not force anyone to respect Him, and neither does He. However, are we not permitted to fight within legal means for those things we believe in? Same as you?
