  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Serious question for Christians of this forum

Okay, I was trying to respond to the guy who said getting saved sounds a bit to easy. I posted, and then my post was quickly deleted...I was a bit shocked at first...so I posted again saying "what happened to my post", only to have that one deleted as well...At first, I assumed that it was a moderator erasing my posts because I was telling the guy that he should read his bible before getting saved, and why I think that that would stop him from being saved...then I went and read the rules sticky for the "Qs by non-Christians" and understood that the only reason they were being deleted was because non-christians may not respond to any of these threads...they can only pose a question, and sit back and wait for only Christians who have accepted the Niceaen Council's findings.

My question is this: Why may non-Christians not reply to a question from a non-Christian? And why is debate not allowed either? This is not an attack, but a serious question. I would think that healthy (respectful) debate would be healthy for conversation and is a useful tool for explaining what one means, and trying to get someone to come around to your point of view. I can understand not wanting Christians to debate each other on this particular forum, as they should want to form a united front, but why may non-christians not debate with christians? Is there another forum that non-christians may post in in which debate is allowed?

The "Discussion and Debate" forum, found below the "Questions by Non-Christians" forum, is the place where questions can be answered by Christians and non-Christians alike.

The "Questions by Non-Christians" forum is intended as a vehicle for non-christians to ask Christians questions concerning aspects of the Christain faith. To have non-Christian answer it would defeat the purpose, for many of their answers would go counter with Christian belief or be a biased opinion based on a non-Christian world view. This forum is intended to be informative, not debative.

The idea is, if you have a question, and seek an answer, this is the best way to do that. In a peaceful, respectful and calm enviroment. Free from distraction or debate.

This is a topic for seekers, wanting to learn more about the faith, learn being the ideal word here.

People that desire a debate, fall under the impression that they already know, as such, no true question is asked with the intention of learning.

My question is this: Why may non-Christians not reply to a question from a non-Christian? And why is debate not allowed either? This is not an attack, but a serious question. General Apologetocs.

100 Post Min to enter (This is to stop the Trolls, which not suprisly enough do end up here, and seek a debate, sad but true)

There is a whole area for Debate, just below this area. This is Outreach.

I hope you find what you seek.

God Bless
