  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

My son is obsessed with the trash. He runs to the diaper pail, the kitchen trash or a trash can anywhere we go. He can spot them a mile away and won't play with anything else once he sees it. We went to the park and all he wanted to do was pat the trash can like it was his long lost friend. Is this odd??
Anyone else have a child who likes strange things?

My daughter likes the trash can, but maybe not quite as much as your son. Mostly she likes throwing things away. If a wrapper is left sitting out, many times she will pick it up and throw it away. Occasionally with small trash cans she will pick them up and carry them around - I find that a little weird, and wonder what she plans to do with it (usually I can talk her into putting it back before she starting sifting through it or something).

She will also stuff her clean diapers and wipes (we use cloth) into the diaper pail.

My oldest son was like that...I had forgotten how many times I had to chase him out of the trash until I read this, lol.

Maybe the fascination with the trash can is because it's also something they can actually reach...

By the time my second child was born, we had moved and there is a closet in my kitchen so I had put the trash can in there.

Just don't let the park trash can's contents become his playtoys, never know what kind of things can be in there

a little bit of trashdigging maybe that isn't disgusting is no biggie, just need to exercise caution
