  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

tv shows: Doug, rugrats, double dare, anything that was on nickolodeon lol ^_^

toys: my little pony and barbie

what movies did you like: I was obsessed with Aladin when I was a little girl...all the disney movies...I can't believe I'm in my second year of college already  .

music: nsync and the spice girls  wow this is getting embarrasing.

favorite candy: gummi bears

I guess you can really see that I was raised in the 90's ahhh what a great time ^_^ Sorry if I was too young to do your survey but it was fun!

God Bless

What did you grow up on?

Shows- He-Man & She-Ra! Thunder Cats, and G.I. Joe. KIDS Incoroprated, Different Strokes, the Facts of Life, Gimmie A Break, Family Ties, Cosby Show, and a Different World. Occasionally, Cheers, when I got older.

Toys- Generic PlaySchool ones. Also, had a Cabbage Patch doll and a Nintendo.

Movies - Star Wars and Pippi LongStocking...and that one Madonna movie, Who's That Girl? (I was a Madonna fan back in the day.). ET, scared me. So did the The Neverending Story.

Music - <sigh> When I was super young - Madonna, Michael Jackson, Prince, Debbie Gibson, Tiffany, New Kids on the Block, Bobby Brown, New Edition, and Def Leppard.:sorry: Teenage years -- well, grunge and hip hop were the rage..so yeah, I was all in it.

Candy - Do Twinkies count?

grew up on Double Dare and Nickelodeon. I used to watch Hey Dude, You Can't Do That On Television, and Salute Your Shorts. I wonder what Donkey Lips is up to these days.

This is not a survey, just a chance to take a drive down memeory lane. It's cool to see that some of the same things made it through another generation. Keep them coming.

What tv shows did you watch?

We never owned a tv. At my friends' or grandmother's, I'd watch McHale's Navy, or Beverly Hillbillies. My mom caught us watching I Dream of Jeannie once, and pitched a fit because of her outfit! In 1972, we rented a tv for a month to watch the election coverage, and my folks let us watch wholesome stuff like Dick Van Dyke, and Green Acres. One time, on the Doris Day Show, somebody started dancing, and then we couldn't watch that show anymore!

What toys did you play with?

Toy soldiers and modelling clay. Board games like Monopoly. Mostly, though, we were outside running around getting into trouble!

What movies did you like?

We weren't allowed to attend movies, or watch them on tv, or even admit that we knew of movie stars. When I was 17, my dad found me printing a picture of Clark Gable for my girlfriend, and read me the riot act.

What music did you listen to?

Christian or classical. Rock music was sinful, of course, evil stuff like Peter, Paul and Mary, or the Beach Boys, so I had to sneak it in!

Favorite candy, etc.

Everything. We weren't picky. Candy cigarettes, were of course, off limits.

I forgot about Big League Chew. Our little league team would chew that stuff, we thought we were big stuff, just like the major leaguers. I still eat Pez, never did like the dispensers though, they could never get the candy out quick enough.

My first gaming system was called Odyssey, or something like that. My dad, bought it for us kids, but he seemed to enjoy it just as much as we did. Then of course there was the classic pong game. Then we got the nintendo, played for hours in our garage with the neighbor kids, I miss that baseball game, Excitebike, Rygar, etc. Those games were a lot harder to play then the new ones are.

Jim, you had it real rough. My dad loved the Beach Boys, so I heard a lot of that. But I always used to coonfuse Jan and Dean with them ,I probably still don't know the difference. lol

You know, it's funny: Although I wouldn't make my kids live like I did, I don't think it was all that bad. I think I appreciate the stuff I have today, because I wasn't allowed to have it back then. And I'm having a good time watching Disney movies like '101 Dalmatians' for the first time!

Brian Wilson, of the Beach Boys wrote 'Surf City for Jan & Dean. They both did 'Barbara Ann'. You're right, the music is very similar.

I never knew they had Gatorade gum.

Yeah, it was good stuff. I searched for it about 6 months ago, but they no longer make it and you can't get it anywhere. I believe they had 3 flavors, orange, lemon-lime and fruit punch.
