CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'm an INFP, but I'm almost even when it comes to thinking versus feeling. I would think that most clergy are probably in the NF or idealist category, even so the category is a very small percentage of the population compared to the others. That being said, I'm sure that forums like these probably draw a larger percentage of idealists than a cross sample from society in general.

This sounds similar to a view that someone who ran this once held. I am not sure that it is the case the NF are more attracted to minstry than ST's. I think that there is a case for both.
The guy who ran it for us once more or less said that as a christian we should all be F's. But I think he was in error in saying so. It is not about one being more right or wrong, it is about how we approach things.
An F is guided more by their feelings than logic. That does not mean that a T does not take feelings into account, but they are more inclined to approach things using logic. As christians we should be sensitive to take both into account, but we cannot say that one is more right than another (I realise you didn't say this Caesario - but the guy who ran this with us did).
It probably didn't help that he was an ENFP and I am an ISTJ. Particularly as he had the tendency to promote whatever he was as being better for the kingdom in some way. It was very.... frustrating.

Wow, some one was actually making the case that Christians should possess a certain trait on the Myers-Briggs test? Sounds like kind of stretch. For one, you're right about the results having nothing to do with rightness/wrongness but rather how people think. Secondly, I think that while test is useful, its still not entirely clear whether its pseudo-science or not.. so we shouldn't be making such definitive statements about it.
I was speculating based upon the stereotypes given to idealists from the test itself, not necessarily identifying a set of traits as being "the" Christian traits.

woo hoo - another ISTJ! Apparently ISTJ is the personality trait given to the organisation of Telstra - well at least a few years ago it was. So if ever we are in need of a new job.... Had a run in with a bishop lately have we?

No I haven't...but I'll look into it.
Maybe I'm having a mid-life crisis or something, because I really enjoy playing this kind of stuff. I suppose it's cheaper than a Harley or Lambourgini.

They'd assume that a priest who drove an expensive sports or luxury car had become pentecostal or charismatic or something.
Hmm....my bishops (ordinary and arch) both drive cheaper cars than me...hmmm.

Interestingly- a few years ago the TAC Abp appeared on Aust TV discussing something with a somewhat liberal mainstream Anglican bishop- the TAC Abp wore a shirt and tie and the other guy opted for purple shirt and dog collar. When asked why he wore the tie, the TAC Primate replied "I'm one of those modern bishops". LOL. I loved the irony.

My dh just wears shirt and tie, unless instructed otherwise. I think he may wear a collar to a funeral from time to time if he thinks it will cause offense not to. A funeral is just not the time to make a point.

I like your dh's approach. I avoid dog collars like the plague but wear it when I absolutely have to. However, I also hate shirt and tie! Well, we do what we have to, eh?
