Waiting On A Promise

Act 1:12 Then returned they unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is from Jerusalem a sabbath day's journey.
Act 1:13 And when they were come in, they went up into an upper room, where abode both Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew, Philip, and Thomas, Bartholomew, and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon Zelotes, and Judas the brother of James.
Act 1:14 These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.
Act 1:15 And in those days Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples, and said, (the number of names together were about an hundred and twenty,)

Act 2:1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
Act 2:2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
Act 2:3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
Act 2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

I am going to look at this passage to highlight the hardship and perseverance of this group of people. They were to wait 10 days and at the beginning there are 120 people. It is the end of Spring it would have been hot. 120 people in a not so large room with probably no bathroom and toilet facilities. There was no MacDonalds downstairs for a quick meal. The passage doesn't say whether there were 120 people left after the 10 days or some had left.
So 120 people waiting 10 days in hot sweaty conditions, they would have been smelly, hungry and the air was probably turning brown. (Joke). Were tempers frayed and friendships stretched? We don't know but whoever was left persevered in the hardship and those that waited until the end were given an indescribably experience.
Waiting for a promise of God can be a trying experience but worth it at the end of the wait.
