"The sisters slowly lowered themselves briefly behind the berry shrub where they had peeked through the branches, to be more out of sight, and stayed still, not moving at all. There would be no way they could overcome such a huge snake, and it would be all over if the snake found them.
"They waited a long time. Nothing yet happened. When Jaffa thought it would really be longer than the snake would be looking around at this end of the canyon, and would have moved on toward where the canyon reached its other extent, she slightly rose again to peek through the branches. She saw none of that large snake in view. She put a finger to her lips for Eva to see, and indicated to her to follow but carefully. Jaffa then stepped out to where she could see what would still be in view along the canyon. The snake was surely gone. For now.
"Jaffa grabbed the bag she still had, and with Eva still following and looking around they went right back to the place where the woven rope was left, and there was the way to climb out, there. Eva then climbed up the way she had before. Then Jaffa tossed the rope up, that Eva could catch a part of it. She pulled it further up, and found one large rock not far from there, she rolled it over to where she would have it on top of one end of the rope, with the other end dropped toward where Jaffa waited with the bag. There Jaffa tried that end around the closed up end of the bag with what was collected in it, and Eva could then lift that bag out."
