Welp...today was the big day of the big test. The colonoscopy
<---that's me feeling like passing out from the fear. Everyone kept saying that the prep is the worst part. Somehow I doubted that. But it turned out to be true. Last night I had to drink the first half of MoviPrep. Not exactly the most delicious beverage in the world. It sort of tasted like flat Sprite with salt in it. I had to drink 8 oz of it every 15 mintures for a total of 4 times. I felt very full and BLOATED for an hour. Then all of a sudden I had to make a MAD DASH for the bathroom. OH MY! I sat on the throne until my hip bones got sore. I watched Nastia Liukin and Shawn Johnson win gold and silver in gymnastics last night, stayed up very late and still felt like I could have sat on the toilet for a few more hours
. This morning I woke up and had to drinik another full liter of MoviPrep. This time it seemed to move through my body a bit quicker, but this time it left me feeling very chafed and sore back there
I had to use some A&D after my morning shower. I was soooooo thristy and hungry as Dan was driving me to the hospital, and I was NOT a nice person to be around. At the GI center I saw Pam was working - great, now my problem is not just confined to my immediate family
. She wasn't my nurse or anything though, so that was good. I told the lady who was checking me in and helping me get ready and puting in my IV just how scared I was and soon the rest of the staff found out about that and everyone did their best to put me at ease. They were really very nice. They wheeled me to the procedure room and there I met the doctor. They asked me to hand over my glasses and that is the last thing I heard. Next thing I knew I was waking up and I could still feel the tube in there
, but the talk in the room was upbeat and I felt fine. They wheeled me back to my recovery room where Dan and the kids were waiting. I had to stay on my side and pass gas for about half an hour LOL. After that the nurse finally gave me a big cup of ice water. That was the best tasting most refreshing ice water EVER. Then she brought some shortbread cookies for all of us, and those were good too. They let me go home, I walked out myself. When I got home I went straight to bed and fell asleep and stayed there until 7:30. Got up and ate some food and just rested the rest of the evening. I am SO glad it is over! The good news is that there was no sign of UC or crohn's. The bad news is that I was given the catch-all Dx of IBS. I think next time I call that doc I will ask him about the Habba syndrome.
