Sorry that word dumb may sound derogatory but I think it's close to the mark. Maybe "ignorant" is a better word.
I can clearly remember a guy I really looked up to for his eloquence and humour saying "Christianity? nah. Not for me. "What? Turn the other cheek? What a joke!" (he mimics Jesus turning the other cheek, holding his arms out on the Cross)
He was smart academically, a black belt in Karate, successful in his career but now I can see, he was spiritually dumb.
The people in Jesus' time. They didn't get His message. They were spiritually dumb. God's message made little sense in a materialistic, violent world where might and power were the winners in life.
You need to be spiritually intelligent. That seems to occur though receiving grace. Let's pray that we all receive that grace today.
