My son emailed us from up in Calgary last night- "Nora Ephron died." Our sons (all adults) tease hubby and I for our obsession with the movie, You've Got Mail, which was written and directed by Nora Ephron. I mean, we live in Oregon, but ordered mugs emblazoned with the logo "Zabars", because Zabars is a New York store featured in You've Got Mail. I store the mugs carefully, and we take them on trips. We never put them in the dishwasher because we don't want the logo to wear off.
So now I have learned Nora Ephron is dead. This is a sad bomb to me.
Her politics, and other atitudes are different from mine, but still, she was adorable and well...sad bomb.
Speaking of politics, that's my other sad bomb. I am such a political animal. I'm 63, and when a small child, was quite aware of even the Eisenhower elections, and followed them avidly.
I still follow politics, but yesterday things got to be too much, and I started getting that heavy feeling. I got outside, took a little shopping trip, and stopped reading political sites. I feel better today, but will need to be careful for a while. I go through this periodically, but always return to my interest again. But for yesterday, and probably today, politics is... another sad bomb.
