  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Well, I did follow up with my teasing revenge plan I mentioned in yesterday's post, and it was a big success. I made up a lot of stories supposedly from years ago in which I claimed he had wasted envelopes, things like that. I got a lot of laughs from hubby and we teased each other all day...

This morning I told hubby I wanted to pick up a big jar of sauerkraut today. We’ve got those Polish sausages we need to use up. So then he came up with this little gem “Just don’t get one of those huge jars. I remember when we had a huge jar of sauerkraut that stayed in the refrigerator...

Eating oatmeal with almonds. White Collar marathon on TV. I love it that my favorite shows are coming back this summer. This morning I sent an article from the New Advent Catholic site to my Kindle. It's abaout Glastonbury Abbey, which I have recently become fascinated by. I learned about...

My title says it all. I'm in my room, with my hair wet, and a cup of coffee to hand. The coffee is watered down, because husband make it a bit strong, and because we are going out at 10:30 to one of our favorite coffee haunts. I just answered a CF PM from a new friend here- kind of fun to talk...

Certain things hit me like a knife in the heart. That may sound overly dramatized, but that is how certain political news hits me. We don't want other people who have different political beliefs to know this. We don't want them to know how much a political disappointment really hurts. I read...

I don't want to tell -I'm so upset about the healthcare decision. The family kept asking this morning how I feel and I kept asking me not to ask me that. Did not watch or read my regular political things. So disappointed. I've been trying to keep my mind off of it. This morning I got out the...

My son emailed us from up in Calgary last night- "Nora Ephron died." Our sons (all adults) tease hubby and I for our obsession with the movie, You've Got Mail, which was written and directed by Nora Ephron. I mean, we live in Oregon, but ordered mugs emblazoned with the logo "Zabars", because...

We received an email from our second son today. It's so exciting- he's up in Galgary giving a speech to a math convention, and his university here in the U.S. is paying for the whole trip. He wrote. "Apparently there is a jackrabbit infestation, Those critters are everywhere! This is a very...

Hubby is off doing research now, which is a good thing, but at times an inconvenient thing. He's checking into some of the computer sites I discovered and showed him concerning the Masoretic Text and the Septuagint, and it has opened up a whole new area of knowledge to be confused about. We are...

I spent time this morning adding free books to my Kindle archives. Yup, I'm an obsessed book hoarder. But it's harmless book hoarding because the books are free, and do not take up any space. I first look for books in historical romance. I try to weed out any overly sensual ones and go for...

I'm cooking, watching TV, eating oatmeal, fixing my hair, and getting ready for the memorial service. My husband's brother has died at the age of 71, and today the family is saying goodbye. Goodbye, Ken. You were sweet, thoughtful, rebellious, stubborn, talented, loud quiet, and this last...

I'm in my bedroom, sitting on the worn out old loveseat that is placed along the side of my bed, watching TV. Well, I'm sort of watching, but mostly doing things on Christian Forums, which is kind of like a new toy to me. I'm just sorting out the directions, you might say, of the new toy...

I am sometimes confused about how to pray for my country, Lord. Yet my spirit wants to ask you for truth to be increased, deceit to be decreased, so this is what I ask. I think not of political truths as such, and not of my own perceptions of truth. I am thinking of and holding in my heart the...

I's a lovely, cloudy day here in Portland. Hubby and I had a nice cuppa joe at Coffee's On this morning, I finished some kitchen chores, and, of course read in my Kindle. I have about 100 books currently on the Kindle, but right now am involved in reading Hope for Tomorrow by Catherine...
