REVELATION 10
The Angel and the Little ScrollRev 10:1 -2
And I saw another mighty angel
Come down from heaven
Clothed with a cloud
And a rainbow was upon His head
And His face was as it were the sun
And His feet as pillars of fire
Gen_9:13 I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.
And He had in His hand
A little book open
And He set his right foot upon the sea
And His left foot on the earth
Rev 10:3-6
And He cried with a loud voice
As when a lion roars
And when He had cried
Seven thunders uttered their voices
The seven thunders, that is, the seven angels, which are the Seven Spirits before God.
And when the seven thunders had uttered their voices
I was about to write
And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto Me
Seal up those things which the seven thunders uttered
And write them not
In the above verse is seen what has not yet to be revealed to the Seven Churches. They are then, either to be kept hidden, or to be revealed at a latter time.
And The angel which I saw stand upon the sea
And upon the earth
Lifted up His hand to heaven
And swore by Him that lives for ever and ever
Who created heaven
And the things that therein are
And the earth
And the things that therein are
And the sea
And the things which are therein,
That there should be time no longer
There is to be no longer a delay before these acts take place.
Here the angelic Being is Christ Jesus. He talked to Elohim, The Creator of all things.
Gen 2:4 These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens,
Notice in Gen 1:1 it was Elohim, God, The Creator of all things which is being spoken of.Here in Gen 2:4 it is Jehovah Elohim, the LORD God. Jehovah Elohim is Elohim who took on form to communicate with His creation. It was the LORD God who made the heaven and the earth. That is, the heavenly Beings and the land which was to become the land of Israe.
Rev 10:7
But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel
When He shall begin to sound
The mystery of God should be finished
As He has declared to His servants the prophets
Notice that here again the references is to Israel and the prophets which had been told of these things. It is necessary then to leave this with THEM.
Here it is seen that again the book of Revelation is tied back to the Old Testament and the things that the prophets wrote about. Therefore this give the reader the place to look for the answers; that is, those which are given to us.
Rev 10:8 And the voice which I heard from heaven
Spoke unto Me again and said
Go and take the little book
Which is open in the hand of the angel
Which stands upon the sea
And upon the earth (the land of Israel)
Here again are figures of speech. The sea is the peoples of Israel and the earth is the land of Israel. To this angel is standing over Israel. This puts the judgments which are to come upon Them who are at the time given. One can not take these events which are clearly mark for Israel and put them into today's' time frame. To do so is not only a great error, it also cause much confusion of the truth which is being given in this vision.
Rev 10:9 -10 And I went unto the angel
And said unto Him
Give me the little book
And He said unto Me
Take it, and eat it up
Eat it up; that is, mentally digest it and understand it.
And it shall make thy belly bitter
But it shall be in Your mouth sweet as honey
It will be bard to digest mentally, but will give you sweet words to talk to Them.
And I took the little book out of the angel's hand
And mentally digested it
And it was in my mouth sweet as honey:
And as soon as I had eaten it
My belly was bitter – Hard to handle.
Rev 10:11
And He said unto Me
You must prophesy again
1- Before many peoples
2- And nations
3- And languages (tongues)
4- And kings
Notice here who it is that John was to testify to from this little book. John was not sent to the Gentiles, Paul was. So these many peoples of various nations were not the entire world at that time, they were the Jews of the various nations and places. See Acts 2.
